Thanks for the updates Patron! ^

Yes, thank you very much Patron ^ ^

May I ask if the Egypt price is dependent on ticketing via TG? Or is that the price for an RTW issued on 220 (LH) stock?

I am a little out of the loop on the ex-CAI RTW pricing but was under the impression that one could get a lower price ticketing with TG, and travleing on on or more long haul segments on TG?

You can ticket RWSTAR ex Egypt fare on every *A carrier. The price some of us paid recently for “RWSTAR fares on TG ticket stock” did not reflect the 2002/2003 price hike. As there is not much talk about this “fare”, my guess is, that is no longer available.

These are very old ex AU fares - they haven't been at this level for quite some time, including most of last year.
The current published * fares ex AU, in AUD are:

Starlite Y $2,399 (low season) $2,799 (high season 01JUN-19AUG & 07DEC-24DEC)
Star1 Y $2,889 J $ 8,399 F $11,599
Star2 Y $3,399 J $ 9,199 F $12,899
Star3 Y $3,999 J $10,599 F $14,499

Cheers.

Thanx Patron

Many thanx for the updates .. I asked about this and posted some data a few weeks back - but your info is comprehensive.

On the ex-CAI RTW fares, I asked Emeco Traval in Cairo ..they gave me the *A fares ....and no response to the TG fares ..when pushed they came back with a cheaper KLM and partner RTW ...but still no TG-fare stock. As SQ has flights to CAI (thru DXB) .... plenty of choice for ticket stock...

retrav1K Jun 12, 2004 7:52 pm

RTW *A fares

Still even with the higher more recent pricing..Australia is relatively cheap for ECONOMY RTW fares ..only 11-12% higher than ex-Cairo; and Bangkok remains about 20% higher than Cairo in Business and 30% in Economy and First.

We should keep this current

retrav1K Jun 12, 2004 7:54 pm

more

Just to be clear... our colleagues in the USA get gouged on these *A RTW fares ... Economy 100% higher; Business 90+% higher ; and First 70+% higher than ex- Cairo.

RWSTAR ex AUstrialia I made available are offered from travel.com.au at present

Thanks Hagbard Viking, aleph08 & Al B for supplying data and sorry retrav1K that I overlooked your – and others - posts!

The RWSTAR fares ex-Australia I made available came from travel.com.au, one of Australia's leading Internet Travel Company . Please note, that this page was recently updated:

Fuel Surcharges - Important Note: To cover the increasing cost of aviation fuel, effective midnight 17 May'04 some carriers are introducing fuel surcharges. This surcharge is not currently reflected in the prices shown below and will be an additional charge. Surcharges are approx. $15 per International sector and $6 per domestic sector.
Therefore I would be more than happy if someone knows how to take advantage of this offer!

Nice thread..... ^ ^

I would imagine when you try to ticket with travel.com.au they would say - oops here's the real price.

Anyone care to try them out?

travel.com.au is a web based wholesaler/consolidator/bucket shop so their fares may well be pro-rated down to a level they sell, reducing their "take" on the ticket as a trade-off. While they show their fares on their site, the true * pricing is reflected in my previous post.
I think we should only include published fares from each country and use these as the "worst case scenario", implying that cheaper deals may be had from some agents, but keeping in mind the true cost is the official * figures.

Fuel Surcharge - the fuel surcharge is actually a ticket tax this time around and appears as a YQ tax on the ticket. There won't be an additional fuel surcharge on top of the fare plus taxes.

Cheers.
