makes you wonder about the likes of A3 and OU. While A3 is in a better position than OU, if the summer busy season is not there for them, it certainly will hit them hard. There were already rumblings about OU being overtaken. Perfect world, would like to see them combine into A3 as a whole.

I was scheduled for the inaugural EWR-OPO in March, as well as a EWR-NCE in Mid May. Up until about a week ago it appeared they would be flying those routes non stop starting again in May. Alas no where to be seen now!

I agree. This has been discussed on the TG forum. The government will continue to finance TG, probably indefinitely, but likely with a reduced flight schedule.

The only real risk at present is to SAA. Even then the government may change its mind and do another bail out.

TG will never shut down, otherwise who will transport the king to/from Germany for partying, it will probably in the future though look more like Air Zimbabwe, with a few token routes so it has legitimacy of being an airline but primarily function to serve the needs of Thai government officials, rather than being a top-tier airline and rival to SQ, as the government doesn't care to give it enough money to transform, just to survive enough to have planes and fly to some places. TG also pays wages that are way too high for Thailand and employs a lot of people who do nothing, but hey, the relatives of government officials need jobs, right? SA could actually be done this time, I don't think the government will let AI die but if it does, I imagine Vistara would join *A so not too much lost, and Vistara is a much better airline than AI anyway.

Indeed. He was reported to be self-isolating (with 20 escorts) at the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Bavaria (have been there, it's quite nice). I understand he flew back to Bangkok two weeks ago.

The Thai king is living in Bavaria since years, first as prince now as king. He flies with a beautiful Thai Air Force A345 from/to Munich and has one or two Thai AF B737 parked in Munich at all times which he uses to fly whereever he needs to go. I don't they need TG for that.

AI, TG, A3 and CA will continue to survive thanks to their countries financing it. SAA overdid it and is liquidating. I'm sure the S. African government will set up a new airline in a few years.

I thought A3 was profitable normally, although it may not be for this year. All of the big 3 Chinese airlines have weird ownership structures that result in them making money although the airlines themselves are highly unprofitable.

Reportedly he flew TG on his most recent trip to Thailand to attend a party and I've heard of reports where people are downgraded because the Thai royalty commandeered the F cabin.

The king had to fly home to attend a function and came back after a day in Thailand. It seems the ThAF aircraft couldn't come to take him 'home' due to the Covid19 situation fo he flew 'commercial' on the TG flights to/from Europe that were operating those days. In general he doesn't fly TG per se. His staff probably does, but TG hardly sends their best equipment to MUC... until recently it was always the rattiest oldest B744s they had in the fleet. Recently they changed to a B777.
