Is this routing possible?

I am trying to book a one way star alliance award using mileage plus. I am hoping to get a C award and would like to maximize flying time with the given amount of miles(crazy?). Is it possible to fly from Hong Kong to San Francisco with the following routing?

HKG-BKK(TG)
BKK-NRT(TG)
NRT-SFO(ANA)

If the inventory is available you should be able to move the miles to CO and redeem from there no problem. Redeeming from UA directly might be a challenge as the desired route is 30% longer than the direct route. I'm not certain the MPM for HKG-SFO but I know that MPM+15% is the limit on UA and 30% over direct is likely too much.

Are you sure about this? I very much hope that this is the case however I read somewhere on the mileage plus website that I have to fly the most direct route, and cannot have stopovers. However, I can make connections.

I am quite certain that the UA rule only permits MPM+15%. That includes the connecting flights that you are permitted. But with UA and CO miles freely fungible between the programs right now it really doesn't matter. That routing should be permitted by CO so you can just redeem there. Probably via the website if you want, actually, using the multi-destination search.

Excellent...continental is overly lenient it seems...and hopefully this is something from the merger I will "like."

On a JFK-LHR search, it offered me JFK-SFO-LHR.....over 70% over the direct routing!
