Braniff 1969-1974. 2x daily. 707's and then 747's from 1971.

Dpt Love Field 12:35 PM and arrived at Honolulu International Airport at 3:40 PM or 7:30 flight time. Can't find HNL-DAL return sked.

~150 more passengers , 150 more carry ons and ( given Hawaii trips are often longer stays ) ~300 more checked bags is quite the weight difference.

yes. At 200 pounds per passenger, that is an additional 25% weight to the plane.

I would guess that estimate is low. Two 40 lb bags and a 20 lb carry on means the passenger would have to weigh 100 lbs fully dressed

Add on laptops, purses, etc and I would say 250 pounds per person would be more accurate but maybe people travelling from the West Coast wouldn't stay as long as people from other parts of the country and would only need 1 checked bag per person.

EDIT, Hey not a bad guess......assuming rules haven't changed this article from 2003 says they assume 190 lbs per passenger and 30 lbs per checked bag.................

Or, possibly announce flight details on Thursday:

"The airline has told us it will announce route pairings, sales and Rapid Rewards redemption rates only after it receives federal approval to begin Hawaii flights. Industry rumors this week hint at a possible announcement about Hawaii flights on Valentine's Day, this Thursday, February 14."

If true, it will be quite an interesting day for a proving flight tomorrow. Forecast calls for a 200-knot + subtropical jet stream coming out of Hawaii direct towards the Bay Area. This is quite extreme even for the southern jet stream. Headwind city going all the way to the islands while there should be some rather quick flights coming back to the mainland.
