Information about earning/transferring points to Southwest Airlines®: Points earned during a billing cycle will be automatically transferred to Southwest Airlines after the end of each billing cycle. Points expiration: The points transferred to your Rapid Rewards account won’t expire as long as your card account is open or you have flight-earning or Southwest Airlines partner-earning activity at least once every 24 months. So far I've held elite status with Air Canada, American, Cathay Pacific, Continental, TWA, and (still have) United. When I last flew WN significantly the big benefit was more drink coupons than I could cash; unfortunately even those without an expiration date somehow expired. My understanding in all the other programs is that while big shot>Plat>Gold>Silver>others, generally speaking higher tier status includes the benefits of lower status tiers.

Part of what I like about WN is that it is different; this particular difference was quite a surprise for me. Not sure why that is funny to you.

So it is like EQMS and RDMS on other airlines? That makes more sense.

Ditto

My wife's application was 2 week's before mine and her CP posted a month ago. I guess we'll have to wait for the 8-week mark from 1st purchase, before we can expect a different response from the CSRs.

Thankfully, the first trip I'll need it for isn't until mid-february, so I should still have time to use it even if it takes the full 8 weeks. It's a little odd that it posted quicker for others who applied earlier, though.

Has anyone encountered this scenario? I applied for 2 personal cards on 9/27/17 when the bonus was 60K each, long before this 1-purchase CP offer. One was approved a few days later, but the other was approved on 10/20/17 which was after this 1-purchase offer. A couple of days ago, I get an email saying I've earned CP thru 2018 even though none of my bonus points has posted yet.

I'm thinking that maybe one or more of the cards was somehow changed to this 1-purchase CP and so I may only get 40K bonus instead of 60K. I guess I'll know shortly when the bonuses hit. (I made sure to time the spending so that both 60Ks hit in 2018 and within the spend deadline. I also took screenshots so I'll be calling in if I only get 40K.)

Judging by the T&Cs, if I do get 60K for each, the CP should extend through 2019 so no harm. I just thought it was odd to get CP before the bonus points hit.

Not thinking the bonus level changed... but in what YEAR did you reach the 60k bonus on each? What are you current numbers?

Also, you say you made sure the spending hit in 2018. Until the Chase statement posts, you never know"for sure". If you look at the statements online at Chase, they will show the bonus points.

I applied for 2 cards in 2017 and verified with Chase that I have until late Jan 2018 to complete the spend. I made sure I crossed the spend threshold after Jan 1. I didn't want to risk doing it in Dec after the Dec statement cut. The statement just closed, after I got the CP that expires in 2018, so I don't know how many bonus points I'll be getting. It should be 120K.

My question is, has anyone encountered this 1-purchase CP when they applied before it was even available?

Ditto, though in my case I applied for one 60K card on October 1 and then a second 40k card in December. Charged approx. $1600 (of $2k req'd) on the first card and $600 (of $1k req'd) on the second card, both prior to December 31. Then in early January I charged $1k+ on each card, well before 90-day deadline.

So I was a bit surprised this week to receive the same "you've earned CP" email even though neither signup bonus has posted (which is correct as the statement closing dates for each card will occur during the last week of the month).

I am not too worried about the 60k as I have a screenshot, but I am concerned about the CP expiration date of December 31, 2018 as I would not have applied for the 2d card but for my desire for a 23-month CP. The wiki is a bit sketchy on how re-qualification is calculated

My theory is that all California residents who applied for Chase cards near the commencement date of the CP promo automatically got scooped up, but who knows...

My 40k bonus points must have just posted (CP posted months ago). Got the email - I'm 37% to my next CP

To follow up on my previous post, the 120K points posted. Just as expected the CP now expires in 2019 rather than 2018.
