FF info/advice for SHV, please
Flying into/out of SHV next month for a family wedding. I've never been there, so would appreciate any advice those familiar with the airport can offer.
I am an AC and CO Pres Club member, but there do not appear to be any lounges at SHV--any opinions on the best place to wait for my ride on arrival and outbound flight on departure (I'll have time to kill on both ends--ahh, the vagaries of the obligatory family-provided "free ride"...
).
Any other tips, tricks, must-see/do while at SHV are also much appreciated.
TIA!
cheers,
AAir_head

Interestingly enough the Eagle DFW-SHV flights list snacks available for purchase on a sun-one-hour flight.
Not that it means a whole lot!
The SHV airport site really is pretty poor! It shows the gates but no information on restaurants or other shops and such.. just the facts!
As someone mentioned, depending on the amount of time you have to waste .. look into http://www.boomtownbossier.com/ where it does not list any transportation information other than 8.2 miles from the airport.. possibly shuttle (call)

There are five casinos in Shreveport and Bossier, if you are so inclined, within 10-15 minutes of the airport. There's also a riverside shopping development, Louisiana Boardwalk, near the Horseshoe casino in Bossier City (just across the Red River from Shreveport.)
The terminal at SHV is fairly new, and the TSA staff has always been courteous. For a small airport, it's a nice operation, just without some of the amenities--such as airline lounges, etc.

This thread has been bounced around a bit, and I do apologize for that. I'm going to move it into the South forum, as I consider Shreveport a southern city. I hope that you'll get sound advice there.

Best place to wait for your ride on arrival: Well, if you're outside, your ride can't miss you. It's not a big place. Not really any interesting place to wait inside.
Best place to wait for your outbound flight: The restaurant has been mentioned. I'd suggest going to your gate and catching up on some reading. Not too much excitement at SHV. If you're lucky you'll see an actual RJ taking off or landing.
Things to do in the SHV area: The casinos have been mentioned. Can't say that's really my thing, but I suppose they're as good a place as any to blow a few dollars. If you want to nurse a Guiness try The Noble Savage downtown. They have excellent coffee as well.
Or, buy a couple of pounds of crawfish from a roadside stand and head out along the Red River somewhere and soak up some sun. Man, I could go for some of that right now.

Thanks all!
Thanks for the quick replies! I hoped I had just missed something when searching for amenities in the airport, but no ... (not even a Regus Business Lounge :-< ).
There are some full-blood Cajuns in my family, so rest assured there will be Abita beer and crawfish--probably a trip to the casinos as well!
Anyway I'm not going 'til the last weekend of April, so if there are any more suggestions I welcome them. TIA!
cheers!
