Hello,
AeroMexico calculates Qualifying miles (well, kilometers in this case) on any given 12-month period (and only at the end of that calendar month btw, no qualifying on the day you reach 50k (gold) or 80k (plat) kilometers).
I am an AeroMexico Club Premier Platinum an the only complaint that I've had with them is that it took more than 6 moths for the status to show at other airlines (AF and CO come to mind).
Cheers from Mexico City
Christophe
Edit: One more plus of AM is that you get 100% EQKm on almost any fare systemwide plus AM's codeshares (MX, VW, LA). You can also earn Km's on almost all MX flights, but these aren't EQKm's.

And if you're a Medallion, you can qualify for complimentary domestic upgrades and some to Central and South America.
And Delta only upgrades with Air France Internationally. On the direct flights to Paris. None for inter Europe or Africa. Again, all based on availability.

DL should do something similar. A slight increase in my travel and I am over to AA.

Delta have already comped me Gold Medallion status, so I'm feeling kinda warm towards them at present.
Can the AF upgrades be obtained using the Plat upgrade certs?
Also, is there any limit on the number of upgrades from the qualifying fares which can be used in each year?

DL status lasts until the last day of Feb. of the following year. AZ status expires on Dec. 31 of the applicable year.
So, for example, if you achieved a certain level in DL with your 2005 travel, you have that level until Feb. 28, '07. If you achieved a certain level in AZ with 2005 travel, you have that level until Dec. 31 2006.
AF Flying Blue is like AZ's program- your status ends Dec. 31.

I based my post on this page, under "How to get elite status", subheading "How to qualify?" where it states:
On the same page linked above, in the "how to earn miles" section, it says that on AF they are valid 36 months if there is no activity. DL miles now expire after 2 years of inactivity.
"Your Level Miles (and Level flight segments) are valid until December 31st of the year of issue."

- when your level miles expire : end of December, as you quoted
- end of elite status with respect to benefits such as lounge access : end of March, as mentioned on the FF cards
- end of elite status, with respect to elite bonus mileage earning : no personal experience, as I fortunately have not been downgraded yet over the last few years
. Would anyone have an idea ?

I believe there are three different issues :
- when your level miles expire : end of December, as you quoted
- end of elite status with respect to benefits such as lounge access : end of March, as mentioned on the FF cards
- end of elite status, with respect to elite bonus mileage earning
- when your level miles expire : end of December, as you quoted

- end of elite status, with respect to elite bonus mileage earning
Unfortunately, AZ states that the status itself expires on Dec. 31. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?
I would think bonus mileage earning would have the same dates as every other benefit of status, meaning hte end of March on AF. I doubt they would slice and dice the benefits, to expire different benefits on different dates.
