Gorcat;
I can tell you that my flight was supposed to leave yesterday from JFK to Frankfurt it was canceled in mid May. On the app I show all the information, even noting that the fight had actually landed. But the flight never happened. it also shows my return flight on 16 June. Even though that flight is canceled. but I noticed that under my name it says ‘not ticketed‘. That’s really the only indication. when I called Singapore airlines they confirmed that the flight has been canceled and that my request for refund had been submitted three weeks earlier. so I think the app does not reflect the fact that the flight is canceled. Maybe call SingaporeAir early some morning and just verify that there is a refund request in the system. It gave me peace of mind. |

Got mine in slightly less than a month. YMMV. In case you are wondering, SQ is not BA, it just got $5B capital infusion plus a new $3B credit line. They have plenty of cash so any delay is unlikely to be a cashflow problem . . . .
From what I hear from friends, even if the official timeline for SQ refunds appears to be quite long, in reality they come through much, much earlier. Good job SQ. |
Just throwing my info into the mix:
Had 2x J tickets for our honeymoon (*tear*) booked from LAX>NRT>SIN>DPS due to depart on 6/20 with a stopover in SIN. Submitted for a refund about a month ago on May 10th, and received the confirmation email. No movement since. Have people seen the refunds processing closer to the flight departure dates? Out 180,000 points and ~$200. |

FWIW, yesterday I cancelled a J award booking due to fly on the 29th of July. Got a popup message that fees will be waived and miles expiry extended. Miles refunded instantly, waiting for taxes to come in.I didn't use the form, but cancelled immediately from "Manage booking" screen on the website.

I did just chat with SIN customer service and they did confirm I would be receiving all miles and fees refunded, just at an unknown time... |

Refund finally came through for my mileage award. My flight was downgraded from F to J with the schedule changes, so I called to get the points back. Total time was 6.5 weeks.
Departure date: 29 June Refund request: 26 April (over the phone) Refund submitted: 29 April Refund email/Miles returned: 12 June Taxes refunded to card: TBD |
Another quick update:
Called to cancel my award flight over the phone on April 10th for a flight that was around end of July. Still waiting for the points to be redeposited and taxes credited back. From the data points above it looks like nobody has received their points redeposited and taxes back for a July flight yet. I'm in no hurry to get them back it's just a little unnerving not having anything in writing or anything really. I called a few days ago and they assured me it was in the queue to get refunded and was well notated so that eased my mind. Thank you all for your data points and I'll update when I get mine. |
I cancelled my ticketed 6th June flight on 14th May. Got the refund notice and miles in on 12 June at 11.15pm. Took around 4 weeks.
On 6th June, I called up KrisFlyer to make a redemption booking on SQ flights, departing 01 July to ZRH. I need the miles from the cancelled flights because I am short of some miles to issue the ticket. So I requested to the CSO to make a urgent request to expedite. The ticketing deadline was 17 June. Maybe that's why my refund was faster than usual. You can try my method. I cancelled the ZRH flights after I got my miles back.:D |
Any other data points?
I was hoping mine would come back last week but still haven't heard back. Had 3 itineraries with SIA. - June 3 one way business class award LAX - SIN - June 8 - 11 round trip economy class paid SIN - REP - June 12 one way business class award SIN - SFO Submitted my online refund request on April 25 for all 3 itineraries. Got auto reply confirmation email. They email me on May 18 stating that all my flights have been cancelled and that I do not need to do anything if I have already submitted my refund request. Still waiting as of today. I'm seeing some people like OptionsCLE and vsepr already get their refunds back. Wonder what is going on. |

Any data points on how long it is taking them to respond to travel agent cancellation requests? I had a flight at the end of February that I booked thru Chase/Expedia. I did not take the flight and gave up on trying to get a refund until May 29th, when I received email from SQ saying that they had changed their policy and that I was now entitled to a refund. I called Chase and they were unable to see the booking in the computer anymore; I got transferred to a supervisor and they were going to email SQ to request the refund. I have yet to hear back from Chase or SQ. I can understand that the refund would not have processed yet but I would have expected that they would have responded to Chase, so I guess I need to call them again.
