I had two RTW redemptions (480K points) that I cancelled in late March. Still haven't received either the points or the tax. I called up earlier today, and was asked to wait another month...

Original Ticket PER-SIN-SFO Y Return + 2 Seat Selections Apr15-30

April 9th - requested refund via online form and received auto-confirmation.

May 28th - Received 3 emails (one for ticket and two for seat selections) along with attached Refund Notice PDFs issued by Singapore Airlines Sydney Ticket Office. Emails indicate refund within 4 to 6 weeks.

For those waiting on refunds, I promised I'd give an update.

Today, I received the full refund of points (which were extended to 30 June 2021) and taxes (refunded to credit card).
Flights were cancelled on 20 March and refunded on 29 May.
Total time taken = 10 weeks.

I hope this information helps other people who are waiting.

Thank you. Cancelled a flight today (May 29) so looking good for July 23 (which ironically is the date I was supposed to arrive in SYD).

May 31st - money received in bank account.
Total time to receive refund: 7+ weeks. Considering the situation, I believe this to be a reasonable timeframe.

Apparently US taxes are not refundable -

SGD 59.60 is non-refundable due to the taxes incurred for flights from USA.
US -Transportation Tax (Domestic/International) and XF -Passenger Facility Charge are sales taxes imposed by US airport/govt authorities .
This taxes will be incurred up when you make a booking to the USA.

That's 100% untrue. If you haven't flown, all of the US taxes (including the XF and PFC) should be refunded. The DOT might like to know that SQ is holding onto this money...

I agree. My refund issued last week (for PER-SIN-SFO Return) included refund of ALL taxes. The Refund Notice PDF detailed each ticket item including one XF @ AUD$6.50 and two US @ AUD$27.40 each. They issued two separate Refund Notice PDFs for each of the AUD$29 Seat Selection charges. All 3 refunds posted as separate amounts into my bank account on the same day, 3 calendar days after I was emailed the Refund Notices.

Hello All,
Just for data point, any information that you may hear or experience if SQ eventually reject to refund the miles and/or the fund despite sending automatic reply of refund request acknowledgement?
Thank you..

I called last week to check on the status of a refund I requested on April 22. The flight was to happen today (June 3) and it was formally cancelled on May15. No real answer. I told the representative that according to US DOT rules, they are to provide a refund within 7 days of cancellation. The flight originated at JFK. She seemed interested when I said that and got away from her canned response. I don’t know if it will expedite but we shall see.

I will file a formal complaint with the DOT in a couple of weeks if I don’t hear anything. It’s ridiculous that they cannot refund the money in over a month.

Can anyone tell me if this is unusual?

My outward flight from ARN-SIN-PER is on the 30th June

On the 28th April I could see this flight was no longer operating.

So also on the 28th April, I used the online form to apply for a refund, and I received the confirmation email from the Airline.

On the 1st June I received the official confirmation email stating that my 30th June flight was cancelled, and if I’d already applied for a refund then no need to do anything else.

Today, the 4th June, I looked at manage my booking, and under booking status it states, ‘previously booked flight’ and then has all my itinerary that was for the 30th June, now showing departure date of the 2nd July.

Why would they do that, especially (as far as I can see) there still aren’t any flights from ARN on the 2nd July?
