SQ38 Diverted to KIX due to a Crack on the Cockpit Window Glass

SQ38 from SIN to LAX
Jul 10
Landed at KIX on 00:50, Jul 11.
95 passengers and crews were on board.
No one was injured.

According to 47news Japanese article.

Note to myself.
Only 95 people? --->>> This is the all business class flight.

Interesting diversion reason, wonder why it was caused? But 95% lf seems a pretty healthy flight for SQ

ok, so now Boeing cockpit windows are likely to overheat because of a short circuit and Airbus' windows are cracking....

Hmmm

Cracked cockpit windows are not all that unusual. Notice, cracked is different from broken etc. Even when they're cracked, the several layers of synthetics keep everything together.

Showing my age, this was not uncommon back in the 60s 70s. I have been on at least three PanAm 707s ex LHR that ended up in SNN due to cracked windscreens.

95 Pax out of 100 seats makes a Load Factor of 95%. Simple math really.

When I dropped off my mom on Sunday July 10th at KIX. I saw the SQ counter open at 4pm in the afternoon. I was looking at why?! And I realized that it was SQ38 checkin. All passengers had their luggage with them. They had about 8-9 counters open and there were people lined up. About 20 people.

I haven't seen the SQ counters open at KIX since they dropped the afternoon flight from KIX.

I wonder what compensation the passengers received. To the average flyers 'cracked" = "broken" = unsafe!
