I'm sure your travel insurance covers you for cancelling when the FCDO advises against all travel. I wouldn't travel without travel insurance, but that's easy to say in hindsight.

There's a post on the other thread from someone stuck in Dubai and who says their travel insurance won't pay out for a hotel because of war. I was surprised at that. Surely insurance would pay out if you travel to a region at a time when it's fine by the FCO, but then a conflict breaks out while you are there? Ive always assuned that provided FCO advice is OK at the time I booked and travelled, my insurance would cover me if things went pear shaped and I got stuck somewhere?

The tlv policy is no refunds unless cancelled. Otherwise can rebook anything up to 6 March for new travel dates up to 13 March. Reroutes to ath and lca are allowed too. Reward bookings are included.

Yes. And Ive seen people claiming elsewhere that since no official war has been declared that travel insurance still covers it. But any insurance Ive ever seen excludes basically any warlike activity, revolutions, insurrections, so pretty much any type of military action.

I've got basic, off the shelf insurance through my bank. That covers me if FCDO advice changes before I travel, which is what Flarmip was referring to earlier. The policy states "The reason given must be terrorism, coups, political unrest, or natural disaster, but not communicable disease . This must happen in the 28 days before you leave for your trip".

The poster earlier was asking about future travel. Those who are already in the area won't be covered unless they've bought one of those high-risk policies that cover such things.

The priority with LY is to get people home (LY ticketed will take priority), outbound flights don't begin until Sunday and they will have a weeks worth of pax who have paid via LY. So I would imagine BA ability to rebook will be very limited.

Right, but they didnt have the option to rebook to ELAL like they did to other airlines, but thankfully this evening they just added ELAL so I have now rebooked
