The British Airways fleet: CONFIRMED aircraft deliveries, retrofits, and retirements

There is a sister thread which covers more general discussion including speculative ideas, linked below:
BA fleet developments: unconfirmed updates, speculation, and general discussion

In the past few years BA has had a large fleet renewal programme. The new aircraft enabled BA to retire the Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777-200 (non-ER) fleets. Retirement of the older A319 and A320 aircraft is in progress. The A318 fleet has been retired without replacement. At BACF the E170 has been retired in favour of the E190.

This Wiki has been divided into:
  • Projected Fleet
  • New Arrivals
  • Retrofits
  • Retirements
  • Historical Fleet
(Click on the aircraft type, where there is a link, to go to the relevant details in this wikipost.)

Great to see that LGW is going to be delivered -10s brand new and aren’t getting handme downs from LHR.

On the topic of 777x - when were they originally meant to be delivered to BA? Feels like at this point it’s a running joke

yes, I think contractually Boeing is meant to deliver their first 777-9 to BA in November 2027 of the updated schedule which is why it says 2027 on IAGs report but clearly that’s not happening, 2028 Q1 is best case

Changes from last year,

2x A350-1000 have transferred from being on leases to owned
3 x A380 have transferred from being on lease to owned
1 x 777-200 has transferred from being on lease to owned
3 x 787-10 are now owned with 9 on leases compared to all 11 being leased last year

Might not necessarily be BA but the first A320Neo's are also now owned, previously they were all on lease.

A350 options have reduced from 36 to 12 alongside the first order for 6
787-10 gained an extra 4 options alongside the 32 firm order

2022. They were ordered in 2019 so a three year wait.

It's now 2026 and there's only a two year wait.

We're moving forwards!

2022 originally, we are now heading to 6 years behind schedule. Following Max Crashes, Boeing had to essentially start certification from scratch which when you realise the aircraft internally holds little similarity to the original 777 it’s a bit crazy that Boeing intended for the aircraft to be certified as you would certify an A320neo. The only thing that’s the same maybe is the system architecture but the brain, the network architecture, flying characteristics, common core system, wings, engine are completely different from the original 777. Rumours suggest it flies more like a 787-10 than it does a 777-300ER

When can we start speculating on the likely config of the LGW 787-10s?

G-EUPJ showing as back in normal colours in Malta.

No more BEA livery?

Are BA suddenly allergic to having different liveries all of a sudden? 😞

Don't believe the Flightradar24 picture! it's been largely debunked as make believe (it showing PJ landing when it's not budged an inch since arriving there until today)

Looks like the photo was taken in Malta though on FR24. Can only assume that makes it believable

FR24 pulls pictures from Jetphotos.com.
They must have uploaded an older picture for a while. I've looked and right now it's showing the BEA livery.

They must have uploaded an older picture for a while. I've looked and right now it's showing the BEA livery.
Yh. It showed as this for an hour. It was then removed from jetphotos shortly after

The IAG cargo next to the reg would suggest it has been fully repainted, no?

Someone's been naughty and photoshopped or AI'd an upload. That's a major no-no for a site like this. Look at the two tones on the engines, any repainted aircraft would have a single clean tone. The IAG CARGO logo is smart, only new deliveries have this. And it's landing into Malta in standard BA livery whereas G-EUPJ left LHR as BEA for Malta maintenance and hasn't pinged flightradar as airborne since.

A similar photo issues also happened a week or so ago and the photo was also pulled. Quite annoyed people would pull a stunt like this, jetphotos.net serves as historical record.
