And some more insights at HfP forums: https://www.headforpoints.com/forums...lost-its-mojo/
But happy to hear that the Parklane is improving.
Funny anecdote, which i can divulge now that the old GM is gone..
Once i did not get my booked orginal room.
Me: "what's this nonsense?!"
Escaleted to GM.
GM: "a certain foreign dignitary has claimed your room"
Me: "i might have been in bed before with said foreign dignitaries, mention to them my name and that i'm staying and not moving".
Waiting....
Bit later with an astonished face back: " it seems your room has become available".
Moral of this story, which may be used in Atacama40 's tell tale book of memories,
Yeah, HadesNL has a reputation of being the villeage bicycle, as everyone has had a go on it but it demonstrated to me that the hotel showed too much favouritism towards their ME/GCC clintle
neglecting its other customers....

yesterday the website behaved very badly - I had a language mixup of German, English, Dutch and Chinese. No matter how offten i reset my browser cache and deleted all cookies/data the issue persisted and I saw room types only in traditional Chinese

...and with that the 2025 Ambassador Free Weekend Night Certificate comes to an end.
Just finished my 2 nights here during Valentine's Day as Diamond Ambassador with Annual Lounge Membership.
The hotel is located in central London, with Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace just a stone's throw away. Great for touristic purposes. Hyde Park Corner tube station (Piccadilly) is nearby, also Green Park with more tube options is not that far away. Several buses are also on the spot.
Booked King Cosy, received King Classic. The room seemed very old and small for IC standards, but maybe it is just London. The bathroom was tiny as well (no shower, just bath with an ewwwwwww curtain to protect the bathroom against splashing water). Little amount of electric plugs, weary signs on many things.
The service in the lounge was impeccable though. Thanks Chirag for you attention! I drank champagne during the evening cocktails (I think some drinks were also available, as well as cold canapes and sweets, but I stuck to the Mot). The breakfast was really great (waffles and eggs florentine). I believe the buffet spread in the club was similar to the one in the main restaurant, as I also tried it out once. I usually see that club lounges have less options but come with a'la carte menu. Here - not so much, both locations had similar amount of goods. The pastries were top notch though! I did not make it to the afternoon tea, although I've heard good things about it as well.
I also witnessed a cheap-... situation in the lobby. Just before the end of the evening cocktails, a couple filled in two glasses of champagne (each), a glass of wine (each) and grabbed two unopened beers. That would have been absolutely fine (the lobby service encouraged filling all the glasses) if only ...they also didn't take an unopened bottle of Mot and hid it under the couch they were sitting on. I'm pretty sure they took that bottle to their room afterwards. I guess this is why we can't have nice things, duh.
Back to the hotel - the cons? Small, old room, relatively bad upgrade and no pool.
So - if you plan to drink a lot of champagne in the evening, this one is definitely worth it. If you don't have club access, this will feel no different than any okay-ish hotel. Hotel Indigo Clerkenwell that I stayed in a couple of months ago had bigger room and similar (great) a'la carte breakfast.
Here's a couple of pics from the breakfast:

Thanks for sharing your experiences, yes the infamous "unrenovated" room with a shower curtain.
There are some strong opnions on FT:IHG about those, the shower curtain AND the unrenovated junk.......
"
",
yes hiding the bottle of champagne is a bit cheeky but i guess they wanted to get "naughty" in their room on Valentine's day for weekend long kanoodle in the love shack, maybe it enhances the mood and extends the performance?

EDIT: just reminded me ..... when I used to be a weekly 4 day stayer in your fair city Hades, the Schiphol D26 BA flight was such a regular grove for me back to the UK that near every Friday night, I used to get given a full bottle champagne when leaving the flight .... quite often, two bottles. Those were the days. Still happens occasionally but not with that Friday regularity. Happy days .... here speaks age and memory :-)

To nick a bottle of champagne from the lounge is to empty the McDonalds of its napkins and toilet paper.
It's free, it's serves a functional purpose but wasn't Dante very clear about :
Fortunately the British have purpose made livers in their DNA construct.
I do remember in the good days the BA ol'767 overnighters at AMS & BA E190 overnighters at RTM befor the pennypinching....
"we're doing nothing with those bubbles as the Dutch don't do alcohol on the morning first flight back to the UK, so if you'd like to take one home......?"
Thanks to Alex Cruz & Willie Walsh all such future hopes have been destroyed as it's cheaper for BA not to overnight anymore in AMS & RTM.
kanapiszon IHG club lounge breakfasts can be usually divided in 3 arche types:
- the continental (cold) favorites - easy in upkeep and servicing for hotel management, if you want more breakfastoptions, you must head for the restaurant's more extensive offering
- the full American buffet with hot items - offers exactly the same as the main breakfast restaurant
- the extensive buffet with extra la carte menu volont prepar - offers special specific items and/or more expensive fruits (blackberry/raspberry etc)
It's free, it's serves a functional purpose but wasn't Dante very clear about :
- Location: Eighth Circle, Seventh Pouch (Malebolge).
- Contrapasso (IMHO not a nice place to spend eternity)

It got to the point that if you didn't get offered a bottle, I'd get to the short stay in a bit of a huff .... to get there with a single bottle made you feel OK. But for that real deep down warm smug feel, you needed to be given two bottles. I'd say this occurred roughly every third week in reality. And they were offered not nabbed in this instance. And for a long time. This was the golden phase of travel for me .... late 90's through to about 2010. Things BA wise became rather grey towards the end of that time.
Nabbing from the lounge needs doing with great care. Again if you regular enough (as you will know) then a polite over humble ask is often enough. In other locations, then it's a bit more of a 'Catch Me If You Can' thing. But I have to confess to not bothering any more. I've lost the drive to be "that guy" any more.

Another upgrade data point: I ust booked a 3 for 2 IHG Destined rate for a Cosy room next weekend. When contacting the hotel asking for which upgrade to be expected I got this reply.
Quite generous. Haven't been to London for over 2 years and very much looking forward assuming nothing comes up in the meantime.
First of all, thank you for being an IHG Diamond Ambassador with us, we truly appreciate your continued loyalty. As part of your exclusive Ambassador membership, you are entitled to a guaranteed one-level room upgrade. In addition, as your reservation was made through IHG Destined, you are also eligible for a further one-level upgrade, subject to availability upon arrival.
As you last stayed with us some many years ago, I am very pleased to confirm that we have arranged an exceptional three-level upgrade for you to a King Premium Park View Room on the 7th floor, overlooking beautiful Hyde Park.

Not being the usual partypooper.....
Very generous, but the title ommits any "Mayfair"naming so expectations need to set their dial on unrenovated ..... but youe annual lounge pass with access to club bubbly should compensate for any unwanted effects

- what's the real difference? new furniture, new carpet? The photos of the non-Myfair rooms also look okay to me.
