Does anyone know what a child meal in J looks like? In PEY/Y it's always a rotation of pasta and rice. Interested to know if it's the same in J, or slightly more appestising/creative.

Soups are tricky: vegetable soups can contain consomme, bouillon, dashi, etc. Unless each item contains a list of full ingredients, the flight crew wouldn't be able to tell whether an innocent-looking vegetable soup may in fact be vegetarian, let alone vegan.

Same with dessert: lots of cakes and some other dessert items contain gelatin, which is a gross & nasty animal-derivative and decidedly not vegetarian, let alone vegan.

LSML HKG-PVG May 2025
Some tasteless chicken breast with potato wedges and vegetables. But presentation is good and I do like whole wheat bread rather than the regular one others get.

CX237 (HKG-LHR) 2025 July PEY long-haul RVML

CX237 (HKG-LHR) 2025 July
RVML vegetarian raw meal
PEY premium economy long-haul dinner and breakfast service

So basically RVML vegetarian raw meal is just assorted diced and leafy vegetables as entrees, served with cut fruits.

Sorry about the poor quality of photos

CX270 AMS-HKG - C - July 2025

VGML - I call it the chickpea route. The catering is 100% identical on each flight. Always two plates of chickpeas from the can. The first one is always served without any dressing, the second in some tasteless tomato sauce on top of some over cooked rice.

2025 Sep SIN-HKG low salt meal (LSML)

2025 Sep SIN-HKG low salt meal (LSML)

Virtually the same as this LSML I had in Feb 2025

Taste was acceptable. Suitable for those wanting a "mild" meal.

********************************

2025 Sep SIN-HKG low salt meal (LSML)

SIN-HKG dinner service
  • cut fruit
  • bread roll
  • steamed fish with mashed pumpkin, rice; the green thing felt like mashed potato but I can't really tell what it was
  • dessert: jelly (can't tell its flavour), with berries
  • dessert: Haagen-Dazs icecream

2026 Jan ex-HKG Economy Vegetarian lacto-ovo meal (VLML)

2026 Jan ex-HKG Economy Vegetarian lacto-ovo meal (VLML)

Served on CX715 (HKG-SIN 8PM departure)

Starter: garden salad, with a wedge of lemon for dressing
Main: penne in tomato sauce, sliced mushrooms, chopped vegetable
Accompaniments: bread roll, cut fruit

***************************
Taste was as one would expect from standard tomato paste pasta, which was fine. It was al dente. Better presentation could be helpful.

CX714 (SIN-HKG) 2026 Jan Fruit platter meal (FPML)

CX714 (SIN-HKG) 2026 Jan
~1AM departure
Supper service
Fruit platter meal (FPML)

Remark: on this red-eye service no tray meal was served in economy (normal meal consists of a snack box, and one heated pesto chicken roll in a box). Hence the fruit platter was also not provided with a tray.

Yeah, as I am not allergic to meat/fish products, I am no longer ordering VxML on CX.
I just order whatever in the J/F menu and eat what I can eat.
