Welcome to The Wing-let - a lounge to discuss any topics.
This is a place for newbie questions, any topics semi-related to Cathay Pacific, where everyone is welcome to ask and discuss.
No question is too stupid, nothing is taken for granted, and anything about Cathay Pacific you were afraid to ask elsewhere, or weren't sure where to ask, you can ask here. Feel free to post here without fear of retribution for not using search.
As with the rest of FlyerTalk, discussions here should be constructive, courteous without aggression or personal attacks.
If anyone feels a good topic is posted here that should be broken out into a separate thread, please use the red triangle to report the post, and it will be considered for its own thread.

pf007 yes sure. Clan trip - my brother and SIL were in my HK-Japan itin, they were checked in in SYD (SYD-HKG separate tix). My wife and I checked in in HKG and met them in Pier.

My travel OCD is killing me - this about a short hop 10 months from now...
Does anyone know why CX402 HKG-TPE doesn't fly on certain (early evening) Saturdays ? Specifically I'm looking at 4-April-2026 - Expertflyer shows that this flight exists on that day but CX doesn't show it as bookable
Looks like the same plane operates back as CX479 TPE-HKG, which is currently available for booking for the same date. Then again both CX402/CX479 didn't operate on Saturday 14-Jun-2025
Is this CX mistakenly not yet loaded the flight for sale ? Or should I expect CX402 not to be operating for my needs ?

Hi there. I'm very new to booking reward flights on Cathay Pacific. Here's my scenario.
Trying to book a 1 month trip in July 2026. Trip dates are for July 1 and returning July 30.
I'd like to book this trip so that when the reward dates open, I book as quickly as possible. In this case, I would need to wait for July 2 to open up, and book a trip from July 1 and return July 2. Then wait a month for July 30 to open up and then attempt to change my return date to July 30.
This seems like an incredibly inefficient way to book a reward ticket but my experience is that this is a peak travel month for my destination, and if I were to wait until July 30 to open to book, the outbound July 1 date will have no availability.
I'm trying to buy for a family of 3 so availabilities for Economy are very tight.
Is there a smarter way to do this?
Thanks so much for any help.

I mean cash fares. If cash fares not loaded, no redemptions either.
For example, 19/6/2026 cash fares not yet loaded for HKG-LAX/SYD/LHR/JFK/PEK/HND/NRT.

It's strange but when I try and book 1way cash flight for 2025 Jun 18, it says all seats are fully booked (that's impossible) but when I try and redeem rewards for the same day, there are availabilities...I don't get it.

I've booked a CX ticket including a Japan Domnestic flight on JAL as the first segment (Domnestic Flight - HND - HKG - Europe). Is there a way to select a seat for the domenstic JAL leg? Any complications waiting for me for example regarding online check-in?

I am looking at the end of the calendar for a J (or F) award from SYD or MEL to North America, ideally on a JL route on A350 equipment transPac. I am now within a day or two of the optimal departure date becoming available.
In the past a straight (say) SYD-SFO or MEL-DFW search on Cathay, would turn up mixed J/F routings if (say) SYD-HND is available in J but HND-SFO is available only in F. The fare would then be prorated based on the fraction J vs F, which is pretty reasonable.
I am now finding that, even though SYD-HND or MEL-NRT are availabe in J, then HND-SFO or HND-DFW are available the next morning (under 24h) in F, I am not being offered the mixed-cabin result. Is there a hack to forcing this to be available? Or is this something they will construct over the phone if I call them? If phone, what's the best number at ~00:00 HKT? I'm in Australia but if I'm better off calling a HK or US number that's fine.

Yes for mixed cabin redemptions they'll calculate the miles pro-rata, as has always been done

Also cxwaterboy perhaps a new master thread / sticky w.r.t. availability (& non-availability) of award flights may be considered? If we don't already have one
We seem to, of late, have been getting a few posts asking why there isn't award availability for certain routes on certain dates, or ask when will award be available

Hi All
Apologies silly question time, this has been asked many times but cant find the right thread.
Im BA silver, travelling Cathay Business Class on CX111 on Monday 25th August. I was originally allocated 16A however my BA account is showing me seat 9H which I cant find on any seat map which it had previously. Which website do I trust? Im trying to avoid a middle seat if possible thats all
