you get one more year at the $550 AF. Ill keep it for a year and decide what Im moving to before August 2026.

You are, of course, 100% correct. However, the last Ritz change was an increased free-night certifivate to 85K, while the annual fee remained at $450.00.

I am fully expecting the annual fee may be increased, at some point, and am surprised it hasn't already, but I would hope that Chase would add some additional benefits to justify the increase.

There is always a chance they could drop the card entirely, and force a product change, but I would only expect that if Chase and Marriott parted ways.

I just think at this moment, the Ritz may represent a value proposition to dissatisfied CSR holders.

Yeah, but I have the Ritz already...

Hyatt Regency isn’t exactly a Top Tier brand in the Hyatt family of hotels. That would be Park Hyatt or maybe even Grand Hyatt and some others.

But if they have HR-level hotels in their collection, that is actually a good thing for me.

If one gets to keep their AF at the lower rate for one more year, that would probably be a good deal as Im sure all these benefits will most likely apply to all cardholders, not just the new $795 card holders.. its pretty hard to slice and dice.

I think Chase is constrained by needing Marriott to agree to all changes, and inasmuch as Marriott awarded American Express the "premium" card slot they need to stay under the radar.

Whenever there is a product refresh it's natural to make New vs Old comparisons, but the more productive comparison is New versus Other current products. Discontinued products are certainly worth a mention, but I don't see them as viable for most people.

So, for the additional $250 AF, we get new "coupons" for: The Edit, Sapphire Reserve Tables, AppleTV, and StubHub. Everyone's calculus on this will be different, but I pay AppleTV out of pocket today, so that is $120, and I usually do a few StubHub ticket orders per year anyway. So I am sure I won't "maximize" the value of these coupons but thinking I will spend enough without changing behavior to cover the $250 fee increase.

I'll have to think a little more on the drop from 1.5x in redemptions to 1x. That piece has opened my eyes to the fact that I have been sleeping on Hyatt as a viable transfer partner to extract value from UR. I may test that out for the year before my new AF hits in 2026.
I agree and as noted everyone's saving calculator is different to how to get to the AF

For me without blinking an eye:
$300 travel credit
$300 StubHub
$120 - Apple TV
$60 - DoorDash
$780

Can probably get at least one dining credit in there with minimal effort

I think a lot of people are overestimating how much they use the 3x on other travel. I hear a lot of transit and trains. How much of a loss can that possibly be for the average person to lose 2x points on those? Certainly if you're spending 75k, it's not on trains. 4x points on direct book hotels and planes are solid offers that can easily get you to 75k.

For me, the Lyft going down from 10x to 5x has really flown under the radar, and that will sting a little.

Cruises are the big ones. My last cruise purchase (which I was luckily able to get in before this change) was for about $36k total. That hurts.

Does the 4X on all flights and hotels purchased direct mean purchased direct through the provider? ie Hyatt website or Singapore airlines website? Or is it 4X purchased direct through Chase portal? If it's the former, it's great, if it's the latter, it sucks. I travel several times a year internationally and stay at Hyatts almost exclusively in SE Asia for weeks/months at a time so the card could still be of value to me.

Direct means from the provider. Portal is 8x.

Just to be clear, it seems the change from 3X to 1X on all travel for existing cardholders begins on 10/26/25. I have a large cruise payment pending that isnt due until, I think, November, but I will contact my travel agent to make sure they run the card before 10/26.

My final payment was due June 30th, so I waited until my statement cut on the 12th and then made the final payment. I didn't want to risk the announcement being "it's over as of today". I know that was unlikely, but it also didn't matter in this case because my statement cut date made it irrelevant.

Really all I use my CSR for is the 3x for travel and dining (dining unchanged). Chase's broad travel definition was key- hotels & airline tickets booked thru OTAs, purchased airline upgrades, other misc airline & hotel purchases, the list goes on. Tens of thousands a year. Some of that can be made up for thru Chase's portal, but its still a big negative for me. Everyone's case is different I suppose.
