AA Equipment Change

Booked RT MIA-LAS in F A321 both ways, Just got an email that my outbound was changed to a 777...YAY! So i assumed there would be a 777 on the return but there is none. What's up with that? Is it weird that a route would have a widebody one way but not returning?
Not complaining just wondering.

AA has ~5 r/t per day between MIA and LAS. Are you sure it's not operating a LAS-MIA flight other than the one you're booked on? It could also be going back to a different hub.

MIA-LAS is not a typical domestic AA route where you can expect a widebody. Typically the only time you'll see AA put a widebody on MIA-LAS is during a few select days/weeks during very high demand, like Xmas/New Years and maybe a few days during big shows like CES.

When are your travel dates? For MIA-LAS it's not weird at all to see a 777 one day but not the next.

They've loaded a number of flights into LAS for CES. I would expect this is for aircraft rotation/utilization, getting either the crew or aircraft (or both) to/from LAS on specific days.

I suspect CES as well. For my LAS>DFW>LGA trip on 1/7, the LAS>DFW leg is on a 777. 1/7 is opening day for CES.

LAS is seeing 772s and 788s for the first two weeks of January. https://www.aacargo.com/downloads/sc...ticJan2025.pdf
Almost certainly CES-related.
