Quite a far cry from the free-for-all breakfast scene at your typical Hyatt Place in the US!
I can’t imagine that being true anymore. Who would want to stay in a hotel like that? I was just in Paris last week. Hotel breakfast where I stayed was fairly casual all week.

Good to hear. It was too stuffy for me, but that was not long after the hotel first opened.

That was over 20 years ago... I think Paris and luxury travel have both changed.

I may be returning to Paris in February, and while I'm not anticipating staying at the PHV, has anybody had any luck with the concierge being able to snag them a table at Plénitude @ Cheval Blanc? I believe they're usually booked 6+ months in advance, so if the concierge could swing us a table, I would definitely consider staying at the Park Hyatt for a few nights just to enable that.

Why not just book a room there and ask the concierge? If they can't do it, then cancel the reservation.

Back to the PHV for 2 nights. Like last week I had booked a standard room and used a SUA to get upgraded to a King Suite but had the good surprise at check in to get a nontuple upgrade to a 120 sqm Ambassador Suite (it’s not the first time I had already been in 2017 and 2019 but it was only for 1 night).

Large entrance with no minibar but a “private cellar” with 4 great bottles of Champagne including Krug, some top Burgundy and Bordeaux and a very nice “Park Hyatt Paris” chess board:

Massive living room and dining room with three large sofas, 2 coffe tables, 2 armchairs, dinning table for 4, plenty of nice artefacts and 10 full bottles of alcohol!

Obviously large bedroom (in fact larger than a standard King Suite) with a semi separate office and walking closet leading to the bathroom and 3 toilets:

Same welcome gift as usual unfortunately (simple but nice Chablis) with 3 macarons instead of the usual mixed nuts/dried fruits:

I will definitely be back (already a few stays booked in 2025) but almost regret to have booked the Hotel du Louvre in December ;-)

Was there a price list for the private cellar bottles? What about for the other 10 bottles out in the open?

Are they still using Blaise Mautin toiletries?

Yes there are prices for the mini bar/private cellar but not the large spirit bottles?

Toiletries are the same large bottle Blaise Mautin they have been using in the regular rooms and suites for almost a year now…

The new BM has absolutely no scent whatsoever and it feels watered down from the OG. I didn't even bother bringing home home the bar soaps. The
older bars were great for scenting my smalls and were nicely hard milled and lasted a long while. I also noticed they are selling big bottles at the front desk now.

Does that mean the large spirit bottles are complimentary?!

I don’t know (no price list nor « complimentary » note) but I would guess no? It wouldn’t made economic sense (especially when upgraded from a cheap room)?
Anyway who’s going to drink a full bottle of average whiskey while staying in a EUR6000 suite??
Saying that while I was having a quick bite at the bar after the Eurostar from London last week someone ordered in room service 3 quadruple Jack Daniels on the rocks (for a modest EUR372)…

.

I agree. It's strange that there wasn't a price list for those bottles. Probably somebody forgot.

Having issues applying SUA here because for my dates, they've made the standard suite only available under some "Stay & Spa" rate and Hyatt phone support claims to be helpless to compel compliance here even though the T&Cs for complementary suite upgrade award don't say it has to be available on a certain rate type.

I also pointed out to them that the standard room is also only available under that rate to avoid it being bookable on points. This hotel really can play games.

Doesn't Hyatt own this property? You'd think they'd make sure they play by the rules.

Yes Hyatt owns the PHV.
Strange I’ve never seen this « Stay & Spa » rate…what dates are you looking for?
