You mean public figure who WROTE about the procedure so it could become a business tax deduction. And you got me, someone who doesnt want to wear glasses and has an elective surgery that most insurances dont cover when not medically necessary may be considered just elective.
1. I am not so sure Ben would be deemed a "public figure" in the legal defamation sense simply because of the number of FTers who voraciously read his every word. Even if he is, though, it is still weird to judge his decision to have LASIK, which seems to be baked in to your oddly aggressive posts on this.
2. Your original post insinuated Ben was *having* a cosmetic surgery (not an elective surgery) for tax evasion purposes, not just that he was writing about it
Whether or not you think LASIK is a silly procedure or a waste of money, of course, is pretty irrelevant. Notably, the IRS considers it an eligible medical expense for FSA/HSA purposes.

I had already let you win but since you enjoy the sport, I shall respond to this non sequitur

Adam is not the CPA, I am. If I had a blog business and I make posts about me having LASIK operation I would have no issues taking the deduction, none. I would not be surprised if readers asked about the doctor and he referred them to the doc....and if there was a disclosure it would definitely be at a spot no one will bother to read.
Anyway...aren't these guys writing their own content? Isn't it amazing they both wrote about snakes just nine minutes apart? I mean, they don't even hide it anymore...and yet fan boys keep linking to these blogs! Who is the ghost writer??

Years ago, a person posted on his site a request for him to review coach/economy seats. How, for the aspirational points accumulator, is a review of punishing coach seats in any way relevant? I would have to say the guy has a very sound focus on his audience. Why waste time and effort doing anything else? He may post misleading and often naive commentary on the airline or airport industry, but again, are general managers and CEOs of airports or senior managers in route planning in customers? I would posit no...

Avoiding interacting with people who live differently and disagree about lifestyle issues or values doesnt do much of anything to change attitudes for the better as I see them.
Its not whataboutism unless expecting OMAAT to go to add value to the miles and points blogosphere by frequently speaking about Florida, Texas, India, China, or wherever else has government actions taking place that target minorities of whatever sort and has minorities selectively carted out to try to justify the actions of these unsaintly governments targeting minorities.

VFTW gets plenty of clicks/comments/views for his 'why are things so expensive at the airport stores' posts, so this is pure clickbait.
The shop is opposite D20 in MIA, so expect a follow up post on the awesome PP facility (30$ credit per visit) at the restaurant near D23 and a report on the visit to the Amex Cent lounge at D10. Sign up for these benefits using the link below now! Offer won't last!

I always enjoy the flight reviews. What I take issue with is that the comments descend into the lunatic fringe of radical politics and it's obviously not monitored. I emailed them once about this and rec'd a reply telling me how busy they were, how overworked they were... I thought that was rich. However, nothing's been done to monitor transparently political comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual flight/product being reviewed.

Indeed, don't read the comments is advice many people give for every website. I am having de ja vu that it may have been addressed in this very thread before

but still allow related political comments - such as Qatar human rights issues on articles about Qatar Airways
it definitely makes me visit HfP more often to actually READ the comments!
