You will arrive & depart in T1 @ FRA, as easy as FRA gets & lots of lounges, just use the lounge nearest to your departure gate in A

(I love FlyerTalk . . )
Connection later this year on a UA Polais flight from IAH to a LH (biz) flight to Bergen, Norway. I have about 3 hours.
Question: Do I only go through Immigration OR do I have to go through a Security check as well? Wondering if I should empty my water bottle before getting in line for whatever I need to get in line for. Thank you! Looks like UA arrives in Terminal 1 and LH departs from the same Terminal.
And which Lounge can I use? Coming FROM Non-Schengen but TO Schengen.
Many many thanks . . . .

Thank you thank you! First traveled to Europe in the 70's and I still don't 'get' the Schengen thing when it comes to airports. So after Immigration I am in the Schengen Zone so would use the Schengen Lounge. Got it. On the return through FRA . . . since I am flying TO IAD, that would mean I would use the Schengen Lounge?? No ********'s.
Thanks again . . . . Not sure I will be all that 'clean' after two flights and 5 hours in the IAH Lounge, but I hope so?

General rule: If arriving from a clean country (like US, Schengen....) you normally (but there are exceptions) don't need to go security in Europe.
There is a passport control between the Schengen area and the non-Schengen gates.
There are lounges both in the Schengen and the non-Schengen area. You should go to the closest lounge in the area where you depart from.

Concerning your water bottle question (applies to return trip only): There is no consistency at the moment in Europe. Some airports have the new machines (FRA, FCO etc.) that allow you to leave liquids, even larger bottles, and electronics in your bag. Many other airports still ask you to remove your electronics and liquids from your bag; there you need to empty larger water bottles and can only take liquids in very small containers (up to 3 Oz) in a small plastic bag, as has been the rule for many years now in many parts of the world including the US.
Enjoy your flight.

LHR-FRA-CDG Connection
I am flying LH from LHR-FRA-CDG this July. The LH website only sold me short connections.
I have a 75 minute connection as my flight from LHR arrives at 11:05am and the CDG flight leaves at 12:20pm. Will that be too tight for a connection (cannot change as LH only giving me 50-80 minute connections)? What happens if I cant make the connection? Will I need to pass through security in addition to passport control?
Note Im not an EU citizen and traveling on a USA passport.

Think of Schengen like a big domestic Zone.

LHR (and the whole of UK and Ireland) is not part of the Schengen zone, keep in mind. So that will be an international arrival.

That I DO know! (UK, Ireland) It's a nested trip so not as concerned - I will have the time. The BNA - IAD - FRA - BGO and return is a little more of an adventure. Winter, departing over Thanksgiving weekend, and a need to be in BGO to catch a boat/ship/tub. In the 'old days' we always took the train. Flying was way too expensive inside Europe. Once from London to Interlaken, Switzerland, I took the train to the coast and an overnight ferry to the Netherlands and a train through Germany to get to Switzerland. Now it's a 2 hour flight . . . . THANKS AGAIN, ALL!

We will have a 5:50 connection between flights DEN-FRA(LH) and FRA-FLR (Air Dolomiti) on the same itinerary. We have Priority Pass and we want to
go to Priority Lounge or Primeclass (both in Terminal 2 non-Schengen). We have a couple of questions :
1. United app navigation suggests that we take SkyLine to the T2 (looks like, there is no any security on the way).
But FRA website navigation shows that we need just walk between terminals (I am not sure if we need to go landside in this case).
I read about SkyLine restrictions but it looks like the train for transfer between terminals (non-Shengen) continues to operate as usual
and the United app gives a better option than the FRA website. Is this correct?
Is it even possible to go from T1 to T2 staying in a non-Schengen?
2. What is the best way to go back to our departure gate in Terminal 1, most likely Gates B1-B6.
The United App suggests going through immigration/customs on T2 and taking the train to Concourse B. But, as I understand,
the train on landside does not operate until June, so do we take the shuttle from T2 to T1 instead of train (landside) or we just go back to T1(B) non-Schengen and go
through immigration/customs there. What is the better, more efficient option? How much time do we need to reserve for that transfer?
Thanks.

On the way back, follow the signs for Z, take the skyline train again, go through transit security, then follow the signs for A, go through passport control. If you depart from B there is a tunnel you can take between A15 and A17.

Thanks.
As I understand, we will need to clear transfer security too when we come back to Z right after the train, right? Is it supposed to be faster than going through security B(West) landside?
Our connecting flight suppose to departs at 4:50pm. What time do we need to start going back?

You'll then need some kind of transit security on your return to T1.
Is it supposed to be faster than going through security B(West) landside?
In order to do security in T1B you first need to go through passport control and there is no way to do that that is not convoluted and extra walking. Your options would be:
- Passport control in T2, exit landside, take the train to B, go through security. Sounds simpler but more walking.
- Take the train first back to B, follow the signs for B, passport control, then either transit security if it's open or landside and re-enter at B security. Both circuitous and more walking.
Our connecting flight suppose to departs at 4:50pm. What time do we need to start going back?
