Mobile app for staff usage...
Today, the FA making take-off announcements fluffed it, with pauses not coinciding with the punctuation, but only in her non-native languages. When the same pattern appeared on pre-landing, I had to take a peak.
Lo and behold. Technology had already been deployed to help her deliver the better customer experience...

In the 90's some scientist (?) hooked up a plant to the internet. Based on the weak electrical impulses the plant generated when environment changed (sun, shade, co2, moisture, stresslevel et.c), the plant bought and sold stock.
I believe it did some of its best investments when they place it at ARN and the plant used to earn more money than some famous stock broker.
Just wait until we get this kind of awareness into Finnair's systems!

Got one of those useless emails ("Your journey to XXX..."), and got startled, as the email said the flight in question was operated by GetJet (don't like them after they've switched to the Lithuanian crew), and initially booked AY metal. Yet, EF and dummy booking still have the flight as A321, so wonder where they pull that information from. Predictive algorithms?

On my latest GVA-HEL flight last week:
1) App showed my seat as 2C in J
2) Web showed my seat as 1C in J
3) Expert-flyer showed row 1 as J only
4) Mail received with the upcoming flight showed seat 2C
5) Online pre-ordered duty free stuff placed in seat 1D and marked seat 2C. Cabin crew had no clue when the upgraded pax asked to have it moved and I said "I think that would be mine..."
6) I was seated in 1C...
Gooooo team AY IT
I agree with EuroFlash that maybe Finnair should hire IT plants to do the job

On my upcoming LHR I flight I had earlier today selected an exit-row seat 10A at OLCI when I noticed that this was available. Now accidentally I noticed that my seat was changed to a middle seat 11E (without informing me or anything).
Selected a new aisle seat now from the back of the bus (not too many seats available). Would have been really annoyed if I had ended up in the middle seat. AY IT is a total mess.

Then it is just me. Or this specific PNR that doesn't allow seat changes.
edit. I finally got it. Pressing the "Esc" key made the loading screen disappear allowing me to click on the final confirm button.
General tip: try Esc if stuck in the "Loading .. "-screen. 😂

Again I got the upgrade offer (EUR 200 or AY+ Voucher) and was told the flight was oversold. Was happy to seated in 5C next to my partner in 5A in Y (E190) as we were on different bookings so I declined (= ignored it).
At HEL when checking one bag, I specifically asked the agent to block me for any "involuntary" upgrades from Y to J and she took a note that I was travelling with Cupart 5A.
At boarding (31B I think it was) of-course my bleepin' seat had been changed to J, 1A. By pure chance we were the first at the gate and I said to the agent that I had asked NOT to be upgraded to J at any cost. I got a funny look like: who the hell declines an upgrade, and surprised faces behind me

Short of the long, the agent spent around 5 min correcting the seat allocation and a very happy elderly lady got my upgraded seat in 1A (I know as her friend was across the aisle and I had been given her seat in 5C which I originally had taken).
Off topic, I'd rather be in Y up front on the E190 than having someone next to me in J with full meal and bar service which to me is more of a hassle than anything... J to me means (in Europe at least) a free seat next to me...
