Correct, IRC I heard that they won't be coming to any LUS hub as the 788 is a LAA aircraft and therefore will only do domestic trips to and fro LAA hubs. However after single operating certificate and complete integration then we may see 788s out of LUS hubs.

0-2. I better stick with picking football games. Both make sense. DFW-PEK is just starting out and the Argentinian economy isn't doing so hot right now. My second guesses would have been those two.

PEK and EZE - not two of my favorite destinations. This kind of dampens my enthusiasm for being on the inaugural international flight of the 787.

Somehow I doubt these inaugural flights will be going out with empty seats.

PEK is just for show as this is a new route and AA is trying to get the Chinese excited and willing to fly with them. I still think this plane will go to NRT later in the year and is what I was told. As for EZE, makes perfect sense, although my own logic tells me it would make more sense to have it fly from MIA instead of DFW. But I trust AA knows what they are doing...(/sarcasm).

True; she hinted that DFW-ICN might be upsized to the 77W once there were enough 777s reconfigured with 2-classes.

As to LAX-ICN, it's the polar opposite of a long-and-thin route that cries out for the tiny 787-8. Between KE and OZ, there are multiple daily A380s, along with some 77Ws and 77Ls thrown in. LAX-ICN is the largest market between the 48-states and Seoul, and if DFW warrants a potential upgauge to a 77W, then filling a 777 from LAX should be simple.

MIA-EZE is the largest market between the USA and Argentina, and AA carries about three times as many passengers on that route as it does on DFW-EZE (a route I would describe as "thin"). AA dominates traffic to South America, and its Latin America yields (average fares) are far higher than Delta or United in Latin America. Against all that, I don't see MIA-EZE warranting a smaller plane unless it's a daily third flight (an addition) from MIA.

Are they going to inaugurate these services once 4 787s are on property? Or will they be doing 3X weekly 787 services to EZE and PEK, like they did with the first 77D on DFW-SCL?

Ah, you are forgetting what has happened in Argentina (similar to Venezuela) and how it has affected the MIA-EZE route. It's not been doing well for the past couple of years, although it is still profitable at least for now. So in my head it makes more sense to fly the 787 on routes where you can maximize profits rather than fly it on thinner routes where you can make some profit. But again, guess AA knows best!

I believe this all starts in June, and, by then, AA will-- unless things go awry-- have 4 or 5 787s delivered. If they decide to start DFW-EZE before DFW-PEK, that still would be a few months away and by April they should have 3 coming up on 4. But I definitely don't have any hard info on start-up dates at this time. I think we'll know much more at the end of this coming week.

You guys are jumping the gun with reports from bloggers. Last i heard, it was not a south american city... I would not put too much weight in a spanish language blog report.

AA wants to expand into Asia. Every indication (including going for HND slots) indicates they want to make LAX their asian hub. Take that as it is.

I'm not sure if this was said already, and sorry if it did.. I've found that AA will start flying a 787 as training to EZE in May.. and that daily service EX-DFW to EZE will start in June.

I hope your sources are reliable then. Because mine have told me differently. I guess we'll see soon enough.

Oddly enough-- we were just discussing it.
