Confirmed - March 1

The switch to Anantara is confirmed, happening on March 1.

Hotel will be known as Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel & Spa, with "significant investment" to follow.

Thanks for the update, looking forward on what it all means for this hotel especially the significant investment ahead.

re FS thailand owner >

i wonder if minor was one planning FS zanzibar
and then went per aquum (has equity) instead

http://www.essquehotels.com/hotellayout.html
might be same for planned FS Ngorongoro
IMHO all unexciting, including FS tanzania

Thailand-based international real estate developer Country Group Development (CGD) and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts today announced plans for a luxury hotel and residential project situated along Bangkok's Chao Phraya River. Makes sense. I found it incredibly hard to believe they would leave their current location/contract without having something else lined up.

3+ years with no property is a long time for FS in BKK.

I will be very interested in the FS Residences

Re the current FS Bangkok, while I am sad about the management change, I have confidence in Anantara management. Until proven otherwise I will still consider the property a viable option under Anantara management. It is not as though ownership is changing.

Ownership will not change. The owner of the property owns the Anantara brand.

Anantara does a very good job of managing its top properties, and I am sure that the current FS Bangkok will be positioned as their flagship Bangkok property. It won't be Four Seasons, but I expect it to remain as one of the best options in central Bangkok.

If people and hardware stay the same I doubt you feel so much difference. Sometimes I wonder about the brand-love at this forum. Take the same hotel and call it Four Seasons or Aman and its without doubt a great luxury Hotel. Take the same hotel with identical service and call it Intercontinental, Anantara or what ever and some people will tell you it`s no luxury, upscale etc. I bet that Aman could build a (objective) 3 star and many would still pay crazy rates and love it. I don`t say Im not brand-addicted too, but in this case Im with Mike. Let`s see how they do and if it really slips down. Judging on pictures from hardware I would never choose the actual FS in BKK. But this is personal taste.

I believe Titiya Chooto, GM at FS Chiang Mai, and former Hotel Manager of the FS BKK, will be GM of the soon to be reflagged Anantara. I would imagine that staff will remain because of her leadership. I think it is a loss for FS to lose her.

If she is the GM after the property is reflagged to Anantara, we have absolutely nothing to worry about. She is an excellent GM.

Indeed Titiya Chooto will be the new GM in Anantara Siam Bangkok, it written on the announcement. Vincent Hoogewijs is moving to Chiang Mai by end of February.
