Yup. In fact, I heard the DYKWIA story many times, but my favorite is:
A man tried to get to the front of the check in line and the agent told "Do you know who I am?"
The agent picked up her microphone and announced, "We have a passenger here who doesn't know who he is. Is there anyone here who can tell him?"
"Screw you!" the DYKWIA yelled at her.
"I'm sorry, sir," she replied, "but you will have to wait in line for that, too."

Queen Mum: "Hello dear, do you know who I am?"
Old Codger: "No dear, but if you ask a nurse she might be able to tell you".
I've heard many versions since, I really wish it was a true story.

I've been experiencing a new species of DYKWIA with alarming frequency lately. These people seem to have an urge to be the first to get off the plane, even if they are seated in row 41. Twice this weekend I was the first person from my row to stand up into the aisle upon the plane parking at the gate. I retrieve my bag from the overhead bin, only to feel somebody's back start pressing against mine. Mr. DYKWIA across the aisle has more important places to be than everybody else. It gets stronger and stronger and despite my best efforts to plant myself where I am standing in the aisle, this technique has obviously been perfected because in a matter of a few seconds I find myself effectively back in my seat. The second time it happened, Mr. DYKWIA was in the window seat, and and actually climbed over the other pax in his row before getting to me in the aisle. Be safe out there, they seem to be proliferating.

If you think that skycaps "bombaying" luggage is a myth, I am here to tell you differently. I worked humping baggage many years ago and this happened from time to time. Back in the day before scanned and tagged bags, they just put a colored tag with a 3 letter code on it. And handed you half the tag as a receipt. Be a jerk and there was a good chance your bag to Nashville (BNA) was sent to NAS (Nassau) instead. Or even if it was sent to your intended destination it may go way of Bombay first. It would get there a few days late and perhaps short anything of value you packed away.

Queen Mum's love of gin was famous, that's a real tribute to both her and Gordon's.

I'm a newby to this site, but not a newby to air travel. This thread should be required reading before any "status" is granted to a frequent flyer. Hilarious and sad at once. It has changed my thinking about what people are thinking inside the close confines of forced socialization in a flying tube. These stories increase awareness of others, as well as awareness of self. Keep them coming!
I think Delta's announcements of thanks at the beginning of every flight serves to fuel the self importance of people who are new to their status level. I wish they would do away with those announcements, and simply thank those who concentrate their flight choices on Delta by providing the perks people value in the Medallion program.

I doubt the video fuels them, as the true DYKWIA's just text or chat on the phone right through the safety video. And if tgey are like the ones I have met of late, they are reclined and paying absolutely no mind to the FA's or anything they have to say.

You make a good point. I hadn't considered that.

In an effort to get this thread back on topic...
Boarding at DTW today. Several wheelchairs went on board when a family of 4 approached the GA (2 children under 5 but old enough to each have their own backpacks but no car seats in sight). The GA firmly, but nicely, explained that they were not eligible for preboarding. As they walked away mom was in a huff and said, loud enough for all to hear, "OK, but we are going to be really slow when we do board."
The GA announcement was clear: Pre-board if you need our help getting down the jetway or if you have an FFA-approved car seat that needs to be strapped into the seat."
Perhaps a new designation? DYKHSICB? Don't You Know How Slow I Can Be?
