If you think that skycaps "bombaying" luggage is a myth, I am here to tell you differently. I worked humping baggage many years ago and this happened from time to time. Back in the day before scanned and tagged bags, they just put a colored tag with a 3 letter code on it. And handed you half the tag as a receipt. Be a jerk and there was a good chance your bag to Nashville (BNA) was sent to NAS (Nassau) instead. Or even if it was sent to your intended destination it may go way of Bombay first. It would get there a few days late and perhaps short anything of value you packed away.
