A new year starts, and for ease of use, we'll start a new thread in order to keep it from getting too overwhelming.
For the previous incarnation, please see here.
Also, please keep this thread limited to actual reports about the specific on-board meals you were offered on an Alaska Airlines flight. Discussion beyond a report of a specific meal belongs over in the companion thread to this one.
If you wish to reply to a particular post here, please click the "Quote" button and then copy the resulting text that appears, go over to the above-mentioned thread, and paste it into the reply box in that thread, and then you may begin composing your reply below the copied text.
The moderators will attempt to perform regular maintenance on this thread and move discussion posts over to the other thread; if you notice a post that doesn't contain a report about a specific meal on an Alaska Airlines flight, you can help us out by clicking the "Alert A Moderator To This Post" triangle and letting us know that a bit of housekeeping needs to be done. (Only one report for a series of posts is necessary--you don't need to report each post.)

9/7 - AS451 - LAX/SEA - Snack - PDB of water. Zesty snack mix. Pesto chicken breast (or was it leg?) with salad. Balsamic Vinigrette dressing and the rare and elusive S&P (I should have taken a picture). Seattle Chocolates in Margarita flavor. Plenty of Glenlivet, so maybe it's just an AA issue

Dinner
Pre-dinner beverages were served promptly, but flight attendant never mentioned meal service to travelers. A few people were surprised when she suddenly showed up with a meal tray, leaving more than a few folks scrambling to put away computers, etc. It would have been helpful if she had announced dinner when taking drink orders -- or even when delivering the first round of beverages.
Dinner tonight was rotini pasta with a meat sauce, steamed broccolini that could have used some lemon butter or seasoning, and a Margarita flavored Seattle Chocolate. (This was a white chocolate piece with a delicate lime flavor and sea salt ... not bad for not being "real" chocolate.)
And to reassure Aaron01, yes, there was ample Glenlivit. Cheers.
For you amusement, cruise over to the "Things You Hear in F" thread to learn how one very classy F passenger opted to consume her dinner ...

GEG-SEA
40 minutes of flight time, drink orders were taken prior to take off and refilled once during the incredibly short flight. Crunchy snack mix.

Lunch flight - served the warm turkey sandwich with sun-dried tomato pesto and a small green salad with cilantro lime dressing. I thought it was good. Service was great, with the attendant letting pax know what was going to be served when taking drink orders.

Correction - Flight was on 9/11Snack service - small green salad with corn and a wimpy chicken skewer. Ranch dressing. The chicken was decent but a slightly larger portion or the addition of a roll might have made this a better snack. It was more like four bites of salad. Would have preferred the cilantro lime dressing.
**NOTE: as someone with dietary restrictions, I'm used to not always getting to eat the meal but when its a salad, it would be great to have at least one alternate salad dressing available...Couldn't eat the ranch (dairy) so had to eat my salad dry.
No PDB service - no water offered. Had to ask for a glass from a passing attendant.
Attendant didn't notify pax of snack service when taking drink orders, just brought out salad but since it wasn't a tray not a big inconvenience. Otherwise good drink service.

Catering snafu!

Plates? We don't need plates! FC FA Jennifer was cool under pressure when catering did not provide plates for the dinner service. She made sure all of us knew the situation and apologized. No apology was necessary, as there was no recourse at 37,000 feet. The main course was served in the aluminum trays and it was just like camping!
Nicoise salad, warm roll, choice between pork & ravioli, dessert caramel Oreo Brulee (tasty!) and plenty of drink!

9/7 SEA-LAX 230p departure: hummus wrap with a side salad and margarita chocolate. The wrap gets awfully soggy. Service was sllloooowwww. We were nearly over Reno by the time the first round of drinks came out. The FA just didn't seem into working that day. Food came out over central CA.
9/9 LAX-SEA 415p departure: pesto chicken breast (I think), salad and margarita chocolate. It was ok. I opted for dinner once I got to PDX. Really disappointing service on this leg too. The F FA got the food out and drinks out and disappeared for the rest of the flight.
9/11 PDX-SFO 730p departure: chicken skewer and salad. I didn't partake since a real dinner at Sanford's was much more appealing. The Alaskan Summer Ale was nice and cold though. ^ Very good service too.

Service on this flight was pretty good. Drink orders and meal selections were made soon after lift off. We started out with the Nicoise Salad and a warm roll. Entree was the Pork Chop with the Peach BBQ sauce, Polenta and Garlic green beans. The other option was the Gemelli Ricotta with Tomato sauce. I chose the Pork chop after seeing mixed reviews here. It was tasty and not dry, but just a bit chewy. The BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet with the polenta being a bit dry and sticky. Dessert was the Caramel Budino and that was pretty good as well.

SEA-ANC #141 last night, seat 3A...
I'm starting to dread the little chicken skewer with the salad. It's basically just one ounce of dry chicken on a stick and a quarter-serving of salad. Three hours is a long time, and what's worse, I came from Sacramento and there was no real meal in first class there either. By the time I got to ANC at about 10:30 PM I was famished. (and buzzed, so it wasn't all bad)

Exact same meal.
Drinks taken once climbed through 10,000 feet.
DigEplayers distributed.
Hot nuts with drinks (they do have pistachios which I LOVE!).
Tiny salad with Greek dressing.
6? Ravioli with vodka/creamy tomato sauce. No meat.
Two cookies about an hour later. One sugar, one with cranberries and white chocolate chips.

AS #752 PDX-ATL
Scheduled departure 9:50 AM
Lunch Service
Beverage orders were taken promptly after take-off and arrived with the standard little packet of snack mix that's mostly soy nuts. (Does anyone really like those little pellets? They're like crunchy styrofoam, but with less flavor ... )
Lunch requests were taken for the two menu choices, Citrus Alaskan Cod or Cheese Ravioli with Cream Sauce.

Service was course-by-course and was a bit slow to roll out. The starter was a tasty watermelon and feta salad with a few yellow grape tomatoes (not cherry tomatoes as listed on the menu. It was accompanied by a warm sesame & poppy seed roll, a pile of somewhat limp arugula and a tub of balsamic vinaigrette. Feta and watermelon combo was refreshing with a sweet/savory flavor. The slightly bitter arugula was superfluous, IMO.

I opted for the Alaskan cod entree and was surprised that the fish was so well prepared - cooked to gently opaque, it arrived moist and flavorful even without the Dijon lemon butter sauce that was also on the plate. Roasted Yukon gold potatoes were seasoned well and arrived neither too mushy or too firm. Creamed Swiss chard as a side was a nice touch. It worked well with the rest of the plate. All in all, this was one of my favorite entrees for 2013.

Dessert was not so successful, IMO. It was described as a "Peach Pie Parfait" but I think there are a lot of Georgia folks who probably cringed at seeing their beloved peaches so terribly mishandled by catering. Rather than being warm, tender and reminiscent of a pie filling, these peach chunks were cold rocks, likely to crack a tooth filling. Joking aside, I couldn't even cut one in half using a knife and folk. Adding insult to the dish was that the fruit was buried beneath an overwhelming layer of whipped cream that tasted faintly chemical in origin.

Toward the end of the flight we were served a ramekin of warm, mixed nuts. They're one of my favorite snacks, but I agree with other posters that mixed nuts are a pre-meal cocktail snack that should (IMO) be served early in the flight with the first round of beverages.
As mentioned, the service rolled out in a very slow manner that made it difficult to get a block of time to work. At 2 1/2 to 3 hours into the 4 1/2 hour flight courses were still being brought out. I think it would have been better to have everything staged and ready to go so that plates could be cleared and the next course brought out in a more timely manner. Others may disagree, but I prefer to eat early in the flight then work. (Or sleep.)
