amanpuri is probably the most mixed here, and is also the largest
GMs kids were at the upper pool with their mother for afternoon tea, one munchkin (they are really cute) jumped into the pool in front of my lounger and drenched my book
assistant manager asked what other Amans I had stayed at, she sort of krinkled her face and said, "Oh, those are much more like residences, we're more like a resort."

Amanpuri actually receives consistently good marks both here and TripAdvisor
If I ever stay at another Aman
70 pavilions plus villas for a total capacity of 350 currently at Amanpuri. There were about 100 people there
I worry that Aman will never be what it once was...or maybe one just needs to choose a property by manager.

Thanks, Kagehitokiri. I really enjoy your informative posts. Amanpuri actually receives consistently good marks both here and TripAdvisor, so it's difficult to reconcile with my experience.
After reviewing some TripAdvisor reviews, we did not receive fruit at the beach, champagne on arrival, or an Amanjunkie tee though it is my second visit there. It was a much smaller resort then my first stay. Also, where did the nightly pillow presents go? We received one common single dendrobian orchid on our pillows one night. There was a consistency of less than happy reviews from experienced Aman clients.
I have to say this service level was far below a Ritz-Carlton or even the four star inn I stayed at in Hanoi just before my Amanpuri visit.
If I ever stay at another Aman, I will certainly look at size first and perhaps if there is the distraction of residence villas (unless we rent a villa and the service is better there). I was told there are 70 pavilions plus villas for a total capacity of 350 currently at Amanpuri. There were about 100 people there (including the villas which have their own staff) through the week we were there.

I brought it up ...when I stayed there a couple of months after they opened and the ...interior designers were arriving the week after to sort the lighting amongst other issues out.
It's dark in the rooms and outside which is dangerous ..ESP with all the varying gradients of paths leading to the rooms...not fun in the middle of winter and the silly torch they provide wasn't sufficient at all.

BTW, in Aman Summer Palace the walkways were also pretty dark in some places.

Amanyara recently launched an on-site Nature Discovery Centre, with a full-time naturalist in residence to educate guests of all ages.
younger guests...research expeditions, nature-themed yoga classes, beach walks, scavenger hunts and turtle nesting site conservation, all focused on learning more about the islands’ indigenous land, sea and sky creatures.

Regarding the Amanyara Nature Discovery Center - PinPin will be there any day now and her young son was going to try it out. I'm sure we'll hear back soon.

We are at amanyara now, enjoying an Amanyara mojito at the bar while our son is on a nighttime discovery trek with Lindsay (the head of the discovery centre). İ will write a full report once i am back but for now i can say it is the best activity my son had in a resort. They have lessons everyday from 10 till 12 and from 14 till 16 pm and he loves it and he is only 5. We specifically asked for this night trek since we saw it on the brochure and lindsay kindly arranged to go with him.
