Well to me $400 to $600 million for all of the Aman resorts, inclusive of debt, seems like a relative bargain, considering the branding, client list, and properties alone, without considering revenue even. Wondering if some of you investment banking types can jump in here to give a quick analysis / gut feel for the price, and tell me what I am missing.....

Unless the properties are rented or leased somehow, and unless they are bleeding money, I wonder why this is not snapped up.....I mean, what's Amankila alone worth?...

while they are the most profitable, there is a lot of debt. debt seems to be part of what shut down bora bora, in addition to government/labor costs there.

i have posted a lot of financial numbers and linked DLF docs and articles. i wasnt able to do any real analysis though, so i would agree professional opinions on some of those docs would be very interesting.

DLF acquisition was $200mm + $200mm debt.

while there is background on previous internal/ownership issues, i dont recall ever seeing real background on the DLF transaction...

This sounds definite that DLF will hold and manage and it sounds as though Robyn Bickford and Manav Garewal will continue as GMs as they are doing such a good job. Likely, though, that the Lodhi restaurant will be managed separately by one of DLF's restaurant groups - probably a good idea as it has never worked as a Spanish tapas place. I wonder, though, what they will do with the spa, as Aman have such a deft touch.

That's if they do move back to Aman. Both are in their 60s, so they may just stay on for the duration.

sveti stefan and amanruya have coco-mat beds (as well as trisara and grace mykonos)

http://twitter.com/#!/Gallivanters/s...13713241325568
Guests at Aman Sveti Stefan, Montenegro, can now visit the Masanovic family home, who have made wine in Montenegro for centuries.
of course just after Musken and Pierre&Cédric

In fact, Aman Sveti Stefan has Coco-Mat organic beds like Grace Mykonos, but Amanruya has a Turkish brand (probably even softer and nicer). Trisara's beds are custom-made, not by Coco-Mat.

F&B at Amanpulo?

Is the food at Amanpulo still as dire as some reports on here have made out in the past?

And what room category would people recommend? I like the idea of being right on the beach but a pool would be good too.

I love beach casita 29 all the way on the end next to shark point. I love a pool as much as everyone but I don't think you would want to swim in a pool when you see the water in front of your casita, its that nice. No one is around for the early morning swim so no bathing suit needed either. The side of the island where the pool villas have been built is a bit windy and the sting rays like to lay in the sand and can be a hazard as I found out when some of the beach boys came yelling to be careful while wadding in the water on that side of the island.
Food is just OK and more then a week would be a problem, for a week its fine.
