Thaksin Shinawatra at Villa Milocer!
Last week the former Thai prime minister stayed with his family at Villa Milocer and did a site inspection on Sveti Stefan (just for FT'ers)! :

Now he has a passport for Montenegro and he might be buying an island :

Another reference to his trip here (towards the end of a difficult to read article) and mention of July 1st soft opening/september full opening for sveti stefan :

Amanpuri
Fred Varnier entertains some amusing and strange requests at Amanpuri :

Hmmm US$250,000 on fine wines and baby elephants & a small tiger for a party.
Is he being indiscreet or exaggerating? Damn,I hope my penchant for badminton doesnt give me away!!!

Henry Gray is a charming host, but let's not forget Kavita, an Australian lady originating from Sorrento (the real one in Italy). She is involved in the improvement of the wine selection and did a great job already. Also the pricing of the wine list is reasonable given that there are the discriminatory Indian taxes.
Aman generally improving the wine lists shows they not only care for Martini drinking Americans

I live close to the Amankora and arrived at 10:30 pm when the blaze was in full force. The last of the guests were being evacuated at this time. Given the ferocity of the blaze and the difficulties of re-filling the water trucks the fire brigade did a good job of bringing the fire under control and preventing the spread to the guest rooms and surrounding trees. There was a real fear from locals that if the dry pine trees had caught fire then surrounding houses (mine included) could have been destroyed as well.

Currently, DLF owns 97% in Aman Resorts and its founder Adrian Zecha the rest.
DLF had acquired Aman Resorts, a chain of 23 hotels across 12 countries, for $400 million in the third quarter of 2007. The $400 million consisted of equity value of $250 million and $150 million of debt. Later, the company had invested in rebuilding the old Lodhi hotel in Delhi, which is now known as Aman Lodhi. DLF spokesperson Sanjoy Roy refused to comment. “As a policy, we do not comment on market speculation,” he added.
Another official said the company had originally told its foreign partner, Mr Zecha, to bring in a strategic partner. “DLF had given time till February 2010 to Mr Zecha to bring a strategic partner or financial investors, but this did not materialise within the stipulated time. Now, the company has itself initiated the process of divestment,” said the official involved in the process. Spokespersons of Goldman Sachs could not be contacted.

always odd.
also seem to recall $200MM + $200MM debt being the "usual" figures given.

The decor of the tapas bar is somewhat sad, but the Meditterranean restaurant above would be very nice if not for the disturbing strong air movements from a badly installed air conditioning system - bring a pullover.Henry Gray is a charming host, but let's not forget Kavita, an Australian lady originating from Sorrento (the real one in Italy). Amanfayun
Has anyone stayed at a Camphor Villa at Amanfayun recently?
We are booked to stay in a Camphor Villa this summer. I know all the suites are quite dark but I wonder how it compares to Magnolia,Bamboo and Tea villas. Apart from The Amanfayun villa, is there anything better about the other villas? Thanks,Paul
