gave my friend a GOH, he's there now on a cash rate. he said that the hotel asked them to pay $600 a night to upgrade into a better room. .... at least i was able to get him free breakfast

just got back from an incredible two night stay here. booked 1 night with a Cat 1 - 7 FNC and the other night was booked for 30K in a two bed room (not sure on view)

upgraded to ocean view...

i get it. its hawaii. desirable rooms / suites are expensive and some people are happy to pay the up charge so why would they give it out for free etc ?

also the only reason i applied a SUA is there were no standard awards available (had set alerts on seats.aero) so i had to call globalist line and have agent manually apply it to the points booking. ...
