Me too, have exerpienced it once at ARN for ORD, that's it...

I think prio boarding is a good thing. When UA does that you can often notice the speed of pax boarding in zone 1 and 2. *Gs, first-class and biz-class passengers are usually very familiar with flying thus know how to behave in a boarding situation (not stand in the aisle stopping boarding for three minutes while folding the jacket etc)...

In the US maybe. Far too often I see self occupied passengers blocking the aisle and doing exactly what you mentioned above. I love it even more when thay are talking in the cell phones at the same time.

A problem in Europe is, however, connecting US passengers as their carry on luggage usually don't fit in the overhead compartment - but they need to try at least 10 times before understanding that.

I did ORD-CPH today and the announced boarding priority in ORD was:
1. Travelling with infants or people that needs some extra time to get on board.
2. C class or *Gs.
3. Rows 36 and higher.
4. Rows ...

They always start with zone 1 which is C-class.
With LH zone 1 is actually all the A seats, zone 2 the F seats, 3 and 4 the middle seats and 5 and 6 the aisle seats.

Makes kind of sense. If the person in F needs to relocate D and E before sitting down that creates a lot of mess. If he can stand in front of seat D when preparing to sit down (since the D chap hasn't boarded yet) then it is rather smooth. As with any other boarding scheme I only see it randomly applied.

And yes. C passengers are not treated differently. Try not to be in the aisle seats. More than once I have had to explain (esp. to MAN staff) that, ehem, I am C and I'd like to board NOW, and not when it suits them.

Agree strongly with this comment, esp re people at the back boarding 1st.

It always amazes me how slow people are at getting seated once on a plane!! For this reason airlines should be more intelligent about boarding those at the back 1st!!

Ohh... Hmm... Quite embarassed I haven't realised that after all my flights on Lufthansa which are quite a few by now.
I just always notice the business class passengers rush onboard once they call zone 1, but perhaps they would have rushed onboard no matter what zone they would have called.
Always fun to see the boarding procedure at LHR for the LH flights to FRA and MUC and all those German businessmen looking like are preparing for a heat in an athletics championship when waiting at the gate ready to rush onboard.
Personally I tend to ask for a window seat as far forward as possible, nice to be able to look out and the best solution if you want to try to get some sleep on an early morning flight, hence I normally get zone 1 or 2, but I thought that was because of the low row number (which apparently it wasn't).
You always learn something new!

I flew 3 SK flights over the last 2 days:

1) LHR-OSL : I THINK that there was priority boarding
2) OSL-CPH : No priority boarding
3) CPH-LHR : An announcement saying "OK, ready to board", at which point everyone rushed to the gate.
