This wiki-post is to keep an overview over the equipment used and services offered by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) across their complete network, both short-haul (Europe) and long-haul (Intercontinental), including the different regular and temporary wet-lease operators which fly for SAS.
The goal of this wiki is to give you a point of information on what you can expect on your flight and which operators, routes or equipment to keep an eye out for, which airplanes and operators may perhaps be nicer or bettern than others and which specific aircraft, operators or routes to potentially avoid. The idea is to prevent any surprises when stepping on board and prepare you for your flight, so you can approach it with appropriate expectations.
The whole wiki is a work in progress! Feel free to contribute!

On short haul routes, which includes all flights within Europe, SAS offers two distinct travel classes: SAS Go and SAS Plus.
All short haul planes are configured with all Economy seating. SAS Plus is located at the front of the plane and is a mix of european Business Class and Premium Economy, as it includes a free snacks and drinks, lounge access, free wifi and more. SAS Go on the other hand is the standard Economy cabin which fills the rest of the planes.

Wifi is available on all A320 family aircraft (with a few exceptions). Wifi is not available on CRJ-900s and ATR72-600, as well as any wet leased aircraft.
Service
Service on SAS is described as consistently inconsistent with reports from mediocre to outright fabulous crews.
UK based SAS Connect crews appear have the best standing, while wet-lease crews are hit or miss, due to the unfamiliarity with the SAS onboard service and process.

Connecting to delta is now already available! As I wouldn't get the lounge invitation... won't try it right now but at least it's good to see finally I can have all itinerary in one ticket with SAS :P.

It appears that ARN-ORD was cut in favour of CPH-ATL. This only leaves ARN-EWR and the occasional ARN-MIA flight from ARN...
The whole announcement sounds as if it was enhanced by some not to be named language model. I also like the claim that ATL is the busiest and most efficient airport in NA.

It’s a rather blue collar sort of operation that may not have the glamour of Dubai but does a very good job of handling a sea of narrowbodies getting folks from Des Moines to Disneyworld or Charleston to Wichita every day, and has actually grown on me over the years as I experience other airports that haven’t had to figure out how to handle a 100 million passenger head count in a yeat like ATL has.

Nice catch with the “most efficient” haha. You’re right, I don’t particularly like Delta, just way too many years traveling/dodging United’s old equipment and service level. The loss of domestic lounge access in the US is definitely not nice though. A Priority Pass membership will become your best friend

Well, technically there is also AFKL itself which has a decent network between Europe and Asia…KL actually flies to KUL, CGK, DPS, MNL, and TPE, “secondary” destinations that none of the other European flags touch today…

I'm in a similar situation as you are, although I don't quite share your joy of having Delta as a connecting partner. I especially dread the (lack of) international lounges, such as Polaris or the upcoming arguments with the lounge dragons about entry on a domestic connection itinerary. :P
Really don't share the argument that ST isn't good between EU and APAC, its weak for intra-APAC but plenty of routes and flights to/from. I do all my APAC travel on SQ and KL.

While same day connections may be OK, domestic access on subsequent days of the trip will not be possible even with EB or FB status. And flying Delta long haul Y will also limit your access.
AMEX gets you access for domestic, but even that has been cut to the bare bones. And then there is huge lines to get in to some Skydumps, whereas I have never had to wait at an Admirals Club or Stained Carpet Club of United.
While the Delta domestic lounges on average might have an upper hand to AA and UA the whole access policy aspect and the lack of premium lounges does put Delta at the bottom of the US carries when it comes to lounges. Excluding the LCCs for obvious reasons.

I do like the good Polaris lounges like the SFO International one but the newer DL lounges are generally on par or better when it comes to drinks. A lounge for me is a place to relax and have a drink and depending on the carrier I fly to eat (like before a SAS flight) but within the quality realm on US carrier lounges I don't see much difference. The ORD T5 DL lounge is well ahead of any UA lounge I've set foot in. You can always switch to Skymiles and use one of the perks for a lounge pass to get unlimited lounge access if this is something that is important for your travel. Or pay the entry fee and expense it if that's an option.

This is actually something the airport brags about in announcements. I've seen it on billboards in Atlanta and it's on every announcement in the airport. It's deff not an AI thing.

ATL is great for domestic-domestic and domestic-international and while international arrivals are fine to, its a terrible airport to depart from, even with TSA Pre or CLEAR (or both) because of the drastically undersized security. I doubt its the most efficient, relative to a SLC or PHX but its really not in the bottom either. The airside train that gets you to all terminals including the international one makes it put ORD far in its rear mirror but typically the larger an airport gets the less efficient it gets. ATL proximity to downtown is also much better than in many other major US metros like EWR/JFK/ORD.

Note that Delta only limits SkyClub access for their elites flying in Y (regardless of airline). Other SkyTeam elites do have access on international flights (except to the Caribbean).

I have to disagree with you regarding departing Atlanta. I think it's a breeze to do so. Compared to the cluster that is MCO, or JFK, or BOS, or SEA, ATL is pretty easy. They expanded the south TSA checkpoint a few years ago, and just opened up a new checkpoint Lower Level North, then there's the International terminal where you can go through even for domestic flights. I like that with ATL you can get to any gate, any lounge, any restaurant without having to leave your terminal and clear TSA again.
