SAS Wet Leases [merged discussions & experience reports]
With the recent discussions caused by the several wet leases, both planned and short-term swaps and substitutions on many routes this summer, I thought this might warrant its own dedicated thread. Hence I have merged together the discussions and experience reports regarding wet lease operations for SAS.
You can go the SAS Routes, Equipment and Operations Master Thread here: SAS Routes, Operations and Equipment Master Thread

IAD-CPH mx last night [and subsequent Air Atlantic charter 772 ops to IAD]
My son was flying IAD-CPH-RIX but the flight was cancelled due to a dent in the door (maybe they should find wider parking spaces). They didn't even try to accomodate on other airlines or routings and just rebooked for the same flight today. I don't think they even offered hotel vouchers (this is for a group of 12 who are mostly from outside of the DC area).
UA usually at least gives some travel credit compensation and a hotel voucher for causing an overnight...does SAS do anything similar?
Hopefully they make it out today.

And we have a cascade of cancellations....
The 'dent' is probably the usual 'gate corrosion' caused by mistakes made by baggage handlers or jetway operators bumping into the aircraft. Wide parking bays won't help there

AFAIK its an all Y config. That 777 helped out when Air Madagascar got its permit to fly to Europe withdrawn...
This is like LO subbing in charter aircraft to fly for the 763 they lost and the 787 they are still missing. I hope they have rebooked the Y+ and C pax onto OAL...

IAD-CPH mx last night
I hope it's fixed by the 24th. (I know it says through 22 July but I also know how unplanned aircraft maintenance goes.) We paid a premium to sit in Y+ and will be annoyed if we end up in Y- on Tuesday.

Well another aircraft got knocked out yesterday:
BTW, EU reg 2111/2005 requires SAS to disclose you the operating carrier, so ask about the flight and if the euroatlantic thing disturbs you, insist on being rebooked.
Code:
21JUL12 Traffic disturbances on Intercontinental flights (21JUL 13:50 UTC) Due to unforeseen maintenance, one of our long-haul aircraft has been temporary taken out of service. This will cause delays on SAS Intercontinental traffic 21-22JUL12. SK973/21JUL12 CPH-BKK postponed/renamed SK6973/22JUL12 estimated time of departure 0830 22JUL12. Other SK Intercontinental flights will depart with shorter delays.
