I ordered Turbotax Deluxe + Efile + 1 state AND Quicken Deluxe at Amazon and it was less than $60 (includes $35 coupon) with free shipping. A great deal if you also need to add/update Quicken.

Amazon has TurboTax Deluxe Federal + E-File + State 2012 for 39.99 plus free shipping!

Correct, that is the way all Turbo products work. The box says "1 state included" but that simply means you get software to prepare your state return, e-filing is always extra. However federal efile is always included because the IRS doesn't like paper returns anymore.

You can e-file both Fed and State. It is the fee that is different.

You can e-file both fed and state returns. The included "e-file" in the product description refers to free e-filing of your federal return. The last two years, the first five fed e-file's were free. I would expect the same this year. But there has always been a charge with my state e-file. $19.95 for my state. YMMV. I have been using Turbo Tax since it came out. Only one year did I try a competitor. Hated it and came back to Turbo Tax and have never look back.

That's what I was trying to say :D State e-file always costs extra. Of course you can e-file any return you want. However if you owe tax you may decide to paper file as you could get a little float time on your payment check by filing on the due date. Though the float is not too long anymore :(

Is this for the tax return you file in 2013? Because the description is not clear. It should say "Turbotax for fiscal year 2012 returns"

izzik Jan 10, 2013 11:16 pm

So the true cost for Federal + e-file + State + e-file = ~$60.
Actually, this is slightly worse than what you can get online via some online portals like scottrade or vanguard.

Just bought this yesterday from Amazon. Best deal I have seen so far on the non download version.

I used TurboTax from its beginnings (DOS version on an IBM XT). Five years ago, I switched to TaxCut (now H&R Block) due to cost and have never looked back.

A friend and I have always used turbo tax separately but now live at the same residence. If it's good for five filings does the code work for both computers or does it need to be done under the same user name? Thanks.

FAR deal with Tax software

I just received over 6,000 UR points for buying Turbo tax software and other software at Office Depot. All in I figure it will cost me about $112. It is a bit of a hassle to deal with all the rebates that go along with this deal but I have time to grapple with that for the points. I have a program that helps keep track of the rebates so I do not loose out on any. It also helped me with my new IP spend.
