If I link the MCR card do I get the free points without a purchase, no idea if my normal machine is an MCR machine - probably not.

WATCH THE LOGO ON THE TOP OF YOUR CAP! If the word Powerade is spelled out, it doubles fine. If it is the Powerade "P" Logo, the computer is saying its Minute Maid automatically and you only get 3 points. I hope Coke fixes this!!

We've been having problems for at least a year with some Powerade caps registering as Minute Maid and vice versa, yet The Powers That Be haven't seem interested in fixing it. So, I wouldn't hold my breath . . .

I feel so dirty.

I used my $3 off a 12 pack coupon today at a store (Star) selling 12 packs for $2.50 each. Bought two of them. Cashier tried to scan the coupon 3 times, then looked at it more carefully and typed in the $3 coupon. And I didn't say anything.

Wow, it's a small world. Given the location in your profile, you most likely have been shopping at the store where I work as the bookkeeper... In any case, as the bookkeeper, I'd just like to let you know that it's fine, and that we get paid for the coupon for the maximum price allowed (the little maximum price disclaimer next to the "write value here" box) as no one at the clearinghouse actually takes the time to read the amount written (or not written) in the box. Also, our (unfortunately internal) revised coupon policy allows for coupon overages as long as it doesn't make the total less than 0 or pays for something that cannot be waived by law (such as bottle deposit or gift card fees)

Is that Brighton Mills? I've never had such luck there!

Slightly more suburban, but inside 128!

On topic, I managed to acquire double points on three powerade caps. I have a loads of diet and regular coke caps, I wish those would double.

Off topic, a question for diburning, when a store sells gift cards, such as starbucks, disney, etc. does the store pay full price for the card or is it like other merchandise where they buy them at a wholesale price and then sell them at a higher retail price?

diburning Apr 25, 2014 6:52 pm

I may or may not work at the store indicated by Out of my Element's profile location. (In case anyone else in my store visits this forum)

To answer northwestbound's question, no and no.

Gift Card Mall (Blackhawk Network) sends us worthless unactivated plastic cards at no cost. They even send in a person to hang them up on the rack. When customers purchase gift cards, they pay for the value of the card (or whatever they specify for open value cards) plus any fees. The store collects the money and is billed by Blackhawk for the value of the activated gift cards minus a small (in the neighborhood of 1% or slightly more, depending on the card, 0% if it's the store's own gift card) commission. The POS system at this particular chain codes it as a general purchase, so I've been racking up the credit card points whenever I have any planned purchases; for example, Amazon.

Historically these Cedar Fair tix are one of the very best ways to get the most bang for your MCR buck. Last year I sold several dozen of these same items on eBay for an average of over $30 each after fees, that's well over 10 cents per MCR point which is about as good as it gets.

If you want these I'd highly recommend acting FAST as they tend to sell out very quickly, be aware that you are allowed a max of only one redemption per MCR account.
