Goodbye for good to E-Rewards

Finally after much debate after they clawed back most of my points in early Aug., I cancelled my E-Rewards account last night. Since joining in '01, I was only able to hit the $25 level one year, which went to HH, and most years never even came close to any redemption level at all. And, yes, folks, I went through my profile many times and selected all areas of interest and set my participation at the max number of emails per week and still would only get one every other month, if that.

So, it's goodbye to E-Rewards for not being worth my time.

P.S. My Points might be next after they dropped the 2500 transfer to HH option. :td:

Wow. I've redeemed $100 already this year and have $125+ that I have yet to decide to spend. My only complaint is that there's not a $100 redemption level for HH.

I dumped them over a year ago for same reasons

I've been able to redeem one $50 bonus for HH points and one $25 bonus for Delta SkyMiles. I joined about a year ago, I think. I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for canceling after receiving so few perks.

FTR, I'm a 40 year old female, married with 2 kids. Not sure what the OP's demographics are, but I'm certain there are more studies for people whom they believe are the biggest consumers.

When they extended my e-rewards account for another year about 4 months ago, I had $22 in my account. From about Jan-May of this year I was getting at least 2 surveys per week and several for $10. About May I cashed most of them in and now--nothing. It took me from May-August to get $3! I will probably be closing out my account as well. :td: :(

I redeemed $100 for Continental on July 11 and am back up to $62 now. I've found that when I get close to $100 the emails are slow in coming, but usually I get several per week. I know I redeemed several AA 2000 mile awards before they switched to one award per year, so e-rewards has worked out for me, at least up to now.

SWM, same age, FWIW. I thought it may be a Canadian thing as we may not be getting the same volume as our American cousins, which is who the site and surveys primarily aimed at. Whatever the reason, the time spent to reward ratio waaay to lopsided, so that's why I walked away.

As the FT saying goes, YMMV. ;)

I changed my location on e-rewards to NYC from Toronto and my offers started pouring in!

yep
surveys are all about demographics: age, race, location, gender, income.
It's interesting to note that Erewards refers to those who place surveys as "advertisers." Each advertiser is seeking a demographic. And apparently I fit less often than most, more often than some. The below average demographic.

When I joined eRewards I was a sales proposal manager for a very large manufacturer of subsea products (over 5,000 employees and 500k-1B in sales). I had authority for purchasing for my department, as well as for spec'ing computer and telephony (landline and cell phone) for my department. I had several surverys early on where I indicated this level of authority and this size company.

For the past six months I have been staying home while awaiting the birth of my baby (around Thanksgiving). I continue to answer the questions using my former employer and position.

I've cashed in $225 since I joined in October 2005, and I currently have $42 in my account. I have run out of things to redeem my awards for, since I've taken all the Northwest, Delta, and HHonors awards that I'm allowed for now. I just used $25 for 6 Blockbuster certificates, but was disappointed when I got them (via email) because they had my name on them, which meant that it might be difficult to gift them to someone else. Since I use Netflix exclusively and the nearest Blockbuster is over 15 miles from my house, I'm not going to use them anytime soon (and no, the terms and conditions say nothing about this when I redeemed).

So, for me, as long as I continue to use this type of position and answer the question based on what I know now about this company's plans for IT purchasing, ERP, accounting services, and management consulting I don't feel that I'm being untruthful, and I continue to get worthwhile surveys (ones that pay like $15 for 20 minutes as opposed to the consumer surveys that pay $3 for 20 minutes).

I get a lot of business-related surveys since I'm self-employed. It seems like I get more of these than consumer-oriented ones. Again, it's all in whether you fit the demographics or not.

Me too.

I seem to be able to get $125 every year. The surveys do not come evenly spaced out thru the year. I may get 2 -3 per week for a few weeks and then nothing for a while. I do not spend much time on these, so the investment is worth the perks!
