e-rewards advice

My deadline for redeeming e-rewards before I start losing them is April 30. I usually only use e-rewards for Honors points, but my last redemption was Feb.5, so I 'can't redeem again until May.

Given the fact my home airport is PIT, and I have no account with anybody else other than US, which of the other FF programs wouls best suit me? I rarely fly except an annual vacation and occassionally a trip for a football game.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

No brainer...

Opt for the blockbuster award, open up accounts with delta, northwest and american and start banking.

Not so fast, randix!
E-rewards allows a maximum of 2K miles per calendar year into each FF account & the OP has zero now in those airlines! So AA would be the only possibility with intent of transferring to HHonors next year--if one can avoid that new nasty $25 fee.
PIThawk, I hear that there may be a grace period. Check with e-rewards for an extension till May 8 to order one more chunk of HHonors. Also, put a chunk of HHonors points into each of the accounts of your friends & family members. Just enter their # & PIN, one at a time.

The $25 reward from FTD once a year isn't too bad either (esp since Mother's Day is in a month!).

You won't get any frequent flyer miles through the link via the reward email they send but it's a straight discount (none of that $25 off an order of $75 stuff!).

The HHonors recommendation won't work. Taken from the redemption page (I was redeeming today anyway) "Exchanges may only be made in the specific increments indicated, and both the e-Rewards program account and the HHonors account must be in the same name," and "Redemption of this reward is limited. You may claim one Hilton HHonors reward per 90-day period."

You can change the name on your erewards account quite easily from your profile.

That may work, but have you tried it before the 90 day time frame?

Not for Hilton, but for an airline award.

Tried it using my husband's account, and updating it to reflect my info. It said, "You have previously redeemed a reward from this sponsor within the last 90 days. Redemption rules for this Reward stipulate that you may make only one redemption every 90 days. You may either choose a different Reward now or redeem this Reward at a later date (once 90 days have passed since your most recent redemption of any Reward from this sponsor)."

Has anyone tried trading their erewards $ to someone else's HH account?

I tried using my husband's account to add HH points to my HH account, and received a message saying we'd redeemed for that award within the past 90 days, which he had. As far as trying to redeem points to someone else's HH accout after the 90 day blackout period, no, I haven't tried that.

More specifically, they allow one redemption per year, regardless of the amount (500, 1000, 2000). IOW, you can't do one 1000 mile redemption early in the year, then another 1000 mile redemption later.

If you don't mind the extra steps, you could always redeem $100 erewards to 2000 AA miles, then transfer the 2000 AA miles to US miles via www.points.com, though, as usual, the exchange rate is pretty bad (about 1:7).
