Automall Question

Yes, I realize that getting Hilton points through Automall is like playing roulette but I still have a question that someone may be able to answer.

In the Rewards section under Search Engines one listing is "Ebates 8 points per dollar spent, 80 points per purchase".

Are these automall points in addition to the Ebates rebate? Also what does the 80 points per purchase mean; is it a maximum reward? or in addition to the purchase? or what?

8 automall points per dollar isn't shabby. I realize that conversion has to occur in 500 point increments but still it's a 1:2 ratio when convertion to Hilton points. I figure a Hilton point is worth about 7/10 of a cent (I know...everyone has their own formula and I don't mean to start an argument about THAT!). But using my valuation 8 automall points = 16 Hilton points = 11.2 cents per dollar. If that's in addition to the ebates rebate then it's really good.

In other words if a company is listed as a 4% rebate and you purchase a $65 item from them will you get a rebate of $2.60 plus 520 automall points (and you should be able to convert 500 automall points into 1000 Hilton points)?

Anyone tried this?

I don't think anyone (including AutoMall )has gone this far with the calculations you've completed.

Taking into account the fact that AutoMall is a new program, and with the recent glitch they had with HHonors which resulted in drastic cut backs on points earning opportunities, my guess is the 80 points per purchase is the Maximum total points that will be awarded per purchase.

Please share your experience with us if you do decide to try it out.

I would also recommend that you document, document, document. I was unable to get Automall to recognize the points that they owed me for a purchase on 800.com that I did through them.

The fact that the purchase was a gesture of goodwill on my part given what I perceived as generous reward levels only made it that much more annoying.

I started w/ Automallonline in mid-February when they were doing their Hilton bonus points thing. I successfully got those, and have successfully accumulated more Hilton points through Automall's "Fast Track", but I have not been able to get any other points for any other transaction including ebates, half.com, Time-Life, Catalog Savings or MicroWarehouse. I've also had no cooperation from customer service on these issues. So you might want to reconsider going to ebates through this portal.

Well, I figure it's a portal to a portal so as long as I get the ebates rebate for my purchase I'm still ahead. I'm just being greedy in hoping for the automall points on top of the ebates rebate. I'll probably try it and see what happens. (The lucky thing is that in the scope of things there isn't THAT much money involved).

I have made at least 3 purchases vi automall.com to ebates. I must say that none of them has posted on automall.com although they did show up on ebates. I figured it was worth a shot but I don't know how much effort I will make in pursing the points on automall. It would be nice to get 300 more so I can cash out but perhaps not worth the aggravation.

CMW - did you fill out the "Record a Reward Purchase" form and save it?

I have done several transactions through Automall to E-bates, none have posted yet. When you do the record a purchase, the figure it comes up with is 80 points PLUS 8 per dollar, so I figure it is worth the try

Has anyone ever received AutoMall points for a purchase, either automatically or via customer service?

I bought a couple of printer cartridges from 00inkjets - 20 points/$ - I got 6000 HH points for a $150 purchase. Points posted to Automall before the cartridges arrived.

Like many others my account was "under review" for a couple of weeks but my point total was completely restored including some that could have been questioned, e.g. survey with no car purchase.

P.S. I still click through Fast Track for the 5 points a day on our family's three accounts. 30 days X 30 HH points/day is an OK amount for a month's worth of very little effort.

I am amazed you got the points for the cartridges.

I bought one just for the heck of it, and received nothing so far, and this was a few months ago.

Registered the purchase and emailed with their customer service, all to not avail.

I go there once in a while to get the fastrack points, but I doubt that I will ever purchase anything from them.

Not worth the effort.

I tried that but to no avail. Not worth the effort to try and get these posted. I am getting $ back thru e-bates so that will have to be good enough.

Anyone notice that ebates is no longer an option on automallonline.com? I could swear it was under search engines and I usually click thru just for the heck of it, but today when I looked it was gone. I'm definitely not getting credit for those past purchases.
