AAdvantage miles at IgoUgo

Now you can earn AAdvantage miles for sharing your travel experiences with the world at IgoUgo.com. Simply visit their web site, sign up as a guide and tell your tale. You'll receive IgoUgo Travel Rewards, which include AAdvantage miles, travel gear, free
trips and more. So visit www.IgoUgo.com today, and start earning miles a new way!

They have other gifts as well including cameras and travel stuff. It was not clear how well developed their fulfillment will be, but with AA touting them, they should be okay.

If you happen to sign up, my guide name is chipper and I have a few stories up on New Zealand and Argentina trips.

HUGE problem with this site. So far as I can tell, and I even signed up for the site, nowhere on the site does it tell you how many of their points it is going to take to get AA miles. What's the redemption rate?

Here's the redemption chart (you have to click "continue" at the bottom of the AA rewards page):

GO points = Miles
25,000 = 5,000
50,000 = 10,000
75,000 = 15,000
100,000 = 20,000
125,000 = 25,000
125,000 = 1 free rt. ticket

Sounds like a lot of stories, but hey if you got a lot to share....

Sounded interesting, signed up, put in a travel experience. Each time someone views, you get points. Dont's need a lot of travel, just have everyone visit. Sound right?

Natalie,

Yes, it is a "rewards for clicks" offer.
500 points for "becoming a guide" ==signing up
500 points for your first journal
1000 points for a journal to a novel destination (I did NZ and Patagonia)

10 points per journal entry read by a member.

Oh, and they have editors read the journals. I have 8 editorial comments on my stuff in my inbox already.

If Flyer Trip Reports migrated there, it would have a bunch of content.

Can we cross post our trip reports, hotel reviews etc. on their site and then collaborate to drive traffic to one another's reports at IgoUgo?

ptpinit Oct 16, 2000 9:58 am

Steffo I am all game. Check out my journals and I'll do the same for you. Goes for everyone who is in!

ptpinit Oct 16, 2000 9:59 am

Steffo, what is your guide name? I am under the same as here, ptpinit.

got nmagann, chipper
let's keep the ball rolling folks!

Nanook Oct 18, 2000 7:47 am

I've got ptpinit, nmagann and chipper. My guide name is Boomsie.

Just wrote two travel entries--it's kind of an awkward form--you don't just write a travel journal, you have to really make your words count (hard for me as I tend to be wordy).

Thanks to the great ideas and strategies discussed on Flyertalk, I was able to take a cheap trip to Florence last week. I put my trip report on this site if anyone wants to check it out. If you decide to sign up and use igougo.com I get a small bonus. My name is MarkR37

Here is a link. I'll do the same for nmagann. Thanks! http://www.igougo.com/gtools/viewjou...JournalID=5889

Finally, someone has taken this site to FT. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I have been on it for a while already, but never had the courage to introduce it here because I was afraid of getting myself into the middle of another flame war (in case people feel that IGoUGo was irrelevant).

So here it is, please check out my many journals (DrMaximus) and leave those valuable comments and maybe even an email. I will check yours out as well. Here's one of my journals (Kathmandu, Nepal) that have received the best response:
http://www.igougo.com/planning/journ...JournalID=5688

To help proliferate this, here are the current IGoUGo members from FT:
  • Boomsie
  • Chipper
  • DrMaximus
  • MarkR37
  • Nmagann
  • Ptpinit

We can all earn 500 bonus points by referring friends. Go to "Earn Points" and "Refer a Friend". Enter your friends' email and get them to sign up using the invitation that IGoUGo would send them.

We could start it with me (shamelessly!). Anyone who wants to join, give me your email and I will refer you. Then the next one who wants to join give your email to the second person, etc.

Cheers,
Maple
