Well, I've just completed a lot of journal reading. You guys have a lot of great stuff out there, and I hope to get a chance to visit some of these places!
So far, I finished reading all of the journals from the following: - Boomsie - Cat333 - Chipper - estnet - Joebm - MRKEY - PStreet1 - Ptpinit - Tombrew - XZYan I've read about a third to a half of the journals from each of the following, and hope to get through more in the next 1-2 days (these are the 'high-volume' guides! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ): - dglawless - DrMaximus - MarkR37 - Nmagann - Spuguru - Library Dragon There are about 3 or 4 of you who have posted to this board (and are included on the list as guides) who don't have any viewable journals on Igougo. If you post a new journal, let this board know! I did not rate every entry. I only give 4's and 5's, so if you were simply providing a brief overview of a cheap motel, I just viewed and moved on (I have a slow connection). I've added about 4 new journals in the past week, including a few more golf reviews, as well as reviews of my recent trips to Paris and the British Virgin Islands. Please take a look at my journals at: http://www.igougo.com/planning/journ...?GuideID=11058 (Pen name - flyin_illini) Thanks, and happy travels! Welcome to our group rmccamy. Please let us know when you write new journals because I have read/rated all of yours to date.
For those of you who might be interested in a very good quality Digital Camera to inhance your journals I am selling mine on ebay right now (current bid is $16.50!). I love this camera so much I am buying the latest and greatest Kodak DC 4800. I purchased this Kodak DC 200 about 2 years ago and it would be a great first camera for a fellow traveller. Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...ndexURL=0&rd=1 |
rmccamy,
Thanks for updating us on your new journals, I will get over there in a while. Mark, I was seriously considering purchasing the Canon G1 ($1400) until I realised that my digital videocam could take excellent pictures as well using the Progressive mode. (Well, let's say I am pleased with the quality - see the latest LA/Mojave/Big Bear pictures on my IGoUGo journals) Also, the DV tape is 60 minutes long, which stores up to 1200 high quality pictures since each still picture takes up only 3 seconds of reuseable tape ($10 for 3x60 mins)! It's a lot more economical than purchasing the memory cards! So it might be more worthwhile for you to purchase a digital videocam. Size-wise, my handheld Panasonic is smaller than the Kodak DC4800! If you are still set on buying the Kodak, be aware that all over Canada it was going for around CAD$500-550 plus 15% taxes after giant rebates. I am not sure about similar promotions in the US. Cheers, Maple |
Thanks for the tips maple, I don't have very much interest in video cameras. I have yet to see anyone make an entertaining, engaging moving picture using a handheld and I am not interested in trying. Also, the photo quality of many digital videos are good, as you said, but not great and I am really interested in taking quality photographs. I'm sure people enjoy them but DV is not for me. As to prices here is a wide sellection of current prices for the Kodak 4800 check this price bot: http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/res...862.sort.price
There is also a hundred dollar off coupon issued by Kodak so the price I am paying is $417 including shipping from Buy.com Cheers, Mark |

I just bought a new camera. A normal one, though - I like real photos. I can always scan them in to get them online! ^_^
Anyway, I've got a new journal up. This one is called "Arcarnacon 2001" - http://www.igougo.com/planning/journ...JournalID=6281 |
