Greenpoints Warning

Just thought I'd give you a heads up. It seems greenpoints can't tell the difference between family and friends sharing a computer "with individual accounts" and fake accounts. We just had every family members account closed out. When I contacted greenpoints they told me we didn't exist and without proof that we did (prove there "is" a god seems to be their logic) exist they would just pocket the thousands of points that we earned.

It's a shame they are not the same company the good old reliable green "stamps" use to be.
People have differing opinions on many of these programs. I just thought people should know that there is no guarantee the companies will live up to thier side of the bargain.
If you are going to spend time collecting points for miles you might want to consider another program that will make your efforts worthwhile.

Thanks for letting me vent.

This is starting to concern me now. You are the third person in the past week who has reported this sort of incident. My girlfriend and I both operate accounts and I made a point of e-mailing GreenPoints Customer Service and asking if their rules permitted two people at the smae address from holding accounts and they told me it was fine as long as we had different e-mail addresses.

Can you send them a copy of a driver's license or something to prove the people exist? I would think they have many accounts with people who have the same address (i.e. husband and wife). If it is a significant amount of points I would not let it go.

They simply lost my business and that of my family and friends.
The fact they sent, what I consider a hate filled e-mail" to my mom telling her she committed fraud... not saying "we found multiple accounts and are inquiring", but rather "your account has been closed" and then making their false allegations.
I figure they took about 20,000 points, but lost a lot more from bad advertising (ie: negative word of mouth travels faster then good... at work I mentioned it and within two days over 30 people who had accounts with them closed them in protest, and one woman made several purchases from them a month).
In the end they get what they deserve, a declining customer base, bad reputation and all that goes with it.
Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion of greenpoints, but I would sooner do business with a con-man then with a company that trys to display this wholesome image, then insults the very customers it claims to want to do business with.

You're right - Greenpoints should be both more respectful in their interactions (isn't it called customer service ?) and worried about their reputation.

Since I doubt they make a profit, what they are trading in is their good name - building market share, customer loyalty, and a good track record for the long run.

Amazon.com is the best example of a path-breaking company that is only now getting toward profitability. They got there by reliability and trying to give customers more than just another bookstore to shop from.

I'm sure what Greenpoints did to you is legal and probably not fraud as they reserve the right to alter or terminate the program and your points at will, but it sure is unethical and incredibly stupid.

Well thanks for the warning, I'll have to keep an eye on things. Remember this is not the first time they did something to hack off customers - they had once raised the points needed for rewards, some doubled overnight, with no warning. That decision was reversed after much outcry.
