Interesting Groupon in Long Island today - $199 for 1 hr "First Flight Experience" where you fly a Piper Warrior II with an instructor and an optional guest.

Question Groupon @ $6 billion or $1 billion?

What is two-year-old Groupon's cache?

Is it the advertising revenue prospect, as with Myface and Spacebook (sic)?

Is it the huge cash float?

(I do love their deals.)

Yesterday Google announced that it will compete, now that Groupon has rejected it. Gonna be interesting...

How?

btw, I must be the last person standing having never used Groupon. How does it really work and is it really worth it?

You go to Groupon through their website, rather than going straight to groupon.com. It does work, and it depends on if it's worth it to you. Some of the stuff, not a bad deal. Some of the stuff, higher prices on websites specific to redeeming the deal, or lack of ability to use promo codes on orders, etc.

You can see other discussion concerning this in the mydealsandcoupons.com conga thread, including thehawk75's great summary of why jumping into a conga hurts those who try to follow the rules.
I saw a conga set up that way on another thread, which is why I did that. I put the referrals in order, so that the first person who added their link would get clicked on first, so they'd be done in order. I understand what you're saying, though about the person actually joining through a referral not being able to get THEIR credit.
My apologies.

You probably saw it on the mydealsandcoupons.com thread, but didn't see the resulting comments about how that's not how a conga works. It's ok, it's just a pet peeve of mine that people jump into the conga, not using the links, to receive credit... I, and most others, have been good about not jumping into a conga, so it annoys me when others do.

I saw in the BigCrumbs thread - and they're still doing it that way and I didn't see any comments on it, so again I apologize and I understand now why it's not okay.

The conga in that thread was broken very early on in the thread, and periodically, throughout, it looks like lin821 was acting as the "conga police," and keeping referral links in order (once it was broken) and properly addressing those who just inserted their referral links without using one.

As was addressed early on in that thread, for those sites that give credit for 2nd generation referrals, a broken conga really affects those too.

With due respect, if that's the thread you got the (wrong) impression, you read it wrong.

If you took time and went over that whole thread, you would see how an one referral-at-all-time thread turns into a looooong waiting list of 8 at this point.

Currently, the BC referral thread is still happening the way it should, using a (correct) referral link to sign up then adding your own. Just because it's now an 8-link conga, it doesn't mean the conga shouldn't move properly and according to the pecking order. I "retired" from being the "watchdog" in that thread long while ago. FTers are a smart crowd. If FTers can manage to get free tickets and hotel stay over and over again, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out how to do a conga right in SPAM Forum.

Still, I gave/give headsup to SPAM MODs all the time when "irregularity" happens. In case you don't know, RBPs are behind the scene so you don't get to see those comments in thread.

Very rarely line-cutting is innocent in SPAM, I must say. FTers take care of one another, not taking advantage of others. Line-cutting in SPAM conga is one of the most unpleasant happening I see on FT.

First, the link that's hidden in the shortened link is the OP's referral link. (Click on it, and in the text it says, "UserReferral.")

Second, there's already an existing Groupon master thread at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/s-p-m...er-thread.html
