Ryanair: Wrong sex on ticket
Hello
We are flying to Malta in a months time and I have realised I have made a mistake on the booking. I entered my girlfriend as a MR . Will this be a propblem do you think - all spelling, passport number etc is fine apart from that.
also - as she is from New Zealand she needs to get her visa stamp at the airport - will this increase the chances of my blunder affecting our journey ???
cheers in advance

Plural forms are "Misters" and "Messieurs" (IPA pronunciation: ['mesə(r)z]), both abbreviated "Messrs'" or "Messrs.". The latter and the abbreviation are from the traditional French title.
Since Malta is a Southern European island nation the mistake is not a formality that will matter at all as long as every thing else is a perfect match.
If you do try and change it, I would do it at check-in and not over the phone. A ticketing agent will be less likely to charge a fee than having a re-issue done over the phone.

True - but it will still be a re-issue, because (I'm guessing here) that it's not an electronic ticket, but a paper ticket. If it is a paper ticket, it'll have to be re-printed and if it has to be re-printed, they will call it a re-issue. A ticket agent can make the change at check-in before he/she prints the actual boarding pass. Or, if it is an e-ticket, you can still have the ticket agent correct and reprint it it at check-in. The boarding pass is just as good as the ticket when the Malta officials are comparing documents. But hey, call em' and see what they say. I just wouldn't pay a fee to change something that is not going to matter in the end.

I very much doubt it will cause a problem with security or immigration - they will not care, because experience has shown that mistakes happen, and this is really a minor one. The only ones I could possibly see having a problem with it would be Ryanair themselves, if they see it as a possibility to milk more revenue out of you. That is, of course, assuming they even catch the error on check-in. My guess is they will not.
Ryanair never does anything for free.
The call centre has a premium-rate number (the kind usually used for phone sex hotlines and the like), and you can expect to spend a good few minutes on hold before anyone will bother to talk to you.
And I seriously doubt they will change it for free.
My advice - don't worry about it. Chances are excellent that everything will be fine. (or at least as good as it can be when subjecting oneself to Ryanscare)

And it's a flight TO Maita, not FROM Malta. We don't actually know where from.
And I disagree with previous advice. If the passenger were a citizen of a European Union country then there might be a reasonable chance of getting away with this. But the passenger is a non-EU citizen who has to go to the Document Check desk before being allowed to board, and the Document Check desk will look at the documents quite carefully and I think it is quite likely that they will make the OP's girlfriend buy another ticket - at the highest available fare, and quite possibly on a different flight (if the original one is full). This is Ryanair, after all.
I wouldn't take any risks. And as the cost of phoning Ryanair's premium line number is probably going to end up being the same as the cost of a new ticket I'd just buy a new ticket.

I am inclined to be extra cautious when it comes to airline tickets. However, looking at a dummy booking entry for London Luton to Malta, I see you have a choice of title: Doctor, Mrs, Miss, Ms, and Mr. I can't see that Ryanair has any right to ask you about your preferred choice of title. For example, if someone chooses Doctor when he isn't, I doubt Ryanair could refuse to fly him. Or if you choose Mrs and you have never been married, Ryanair could not ask for proof.
So, although this is my opinion only, I don't think Ryanair has the right to question your choice of Title.

My corporate TA did this for me on EZ
(they'd already tried to book the wrong date... First time using them and I was not impressed).
When I asked if it would be a problem, they reissued the ticket. I've no idea if they were charged, but I did make sure we weren't charged for their mistake.
