I successfully initiated a chargeback for DCC from a hotel. This would seem to be your best option. I actually computed the amount I should have been charged (from other charges on that day) and disputed the difference.

I wonder if the issue is somehow related to browser configurations, i.e. the 'use DCC' tickbox being unticked somehow doesn't register because of the way the browser is set up (plugins, security settings etc)?

Of course it shouldn't be something that's difficult to do - the fact that it is is somewhat at odds with Ryanair's new customer-friendly (or at least friendlier) approach.

Evening regatta333

Exactly the same has happened to me this afternoon. Did you have any luck with your Ryanair complaint?

Has anyone successfully completed a chargeback after booking through Ryanair?

How can you prove you opted out of DCC? I have spoken with Ryanair and they are very unhelpful over this and couldn't confirm that I'd unticked the box. Told me to complain to Ryanair and to take it up with the bank.

Thanks. This worked for me using a Visa card from the US.

No Box on Ryanair.com

Has anyone else had problems with ryanair's chat "customer service"

I received this reply from them about how to "opt out" of DCC on their booking site.

Let me check the best answer for you.
At the end of booking/changing, you should see a pop-up about this. At this time, you should opt out this. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Goodbye, thank you for using our Live Chat Service. If you would like to receive a transcript of this conversation, please click on the little envelope on top left corner.

The hilarious thing is that even though the rep "asked" if I had anything else he could help me with, literally half a second after posting his reply he disconnected from the chat.

I get no pop up at the end of the process, is this just me or can anyone else find the mysterious and elusive DCC opt out pop-up? I think I have a better chance of finding the loch ness monster than the opt out.

It appears immediately after you've typed in your credit card number, just to the side of it IIRC.

At least it did last week.

Ryanair DCC / Monarch credit card fee

last time I booked (a couple of months ago), you had to click on a link during the sale process to switch the currency back to the original ... and the link is barely highlighted - so incredibly easy to miss it.

i never thought of challenging it through the credit card company.

I had a related dispute with another airline (Monarch) - where their website didn't add a credit card fee until after I had clicked purchase (so I had no option to swap to debit card to avoid fee).
I phoned them up straight away (trying to cancel and rebook) - but they refused. And since I don't take screenshots every time I book a flight - I couldn't prove that it was a glitch in their website.
