Uber to offer tipping for UK users
Oh, dear. UK next, starts tomorrow. 
Hopefully not in RoW, especially where tipping is not generally practised.

This is what UBER says.
We often hear of drivers making your day or going above and beyond. So, if you think your driver deserves more than just "Thanks for the ride!", from tomorrow you have the option to leave a tip through the app.

Like it says in the advice above, a tip can be left after the trip is completed and when you have said goodbye to the driver. It can be added when you rate the driver 1-5 stars.I wonder if the driver will see all of the tip, or even any? Uber does not have the best record in driver care.

Isn't the UK as place where (local) people generally don't tip taxi drivers or at most round up or give some small amount if the driver has helped with luggage?

I rarely take taxis these days. Uber has changed the dynamics and is usually quicker and cheaper, at least for us. Pity that the tipping option almost certainly means an overall cost increase.
For airport runs (we're in the suburbs within the M25), we normally use a local minicab company if with bags or the Underground if with hand baggage. The minicab company is much cheaper than taxis and Uber and, yes, we tip.

One attraction of Uber was the 'no tipping' habit for those who thought that tipping is getting out of hand.

Oh, Uber now allows tipping in app (UK)
Used it for the first time in a while, Friday, and in addition to giving the driver a rating, it also allows a tip of 1, 2 or 3. This means for most trips (rarely long) I need not worry about having change. My feelings about Uber the company remain very mixed, but the end to end experience is currently second to none.
