Expiring points

I have a large number of Carlson points expiring shortly.

What's the easiest/cheapest way to generate an activity? I don't have any trips planned where a Radisson hotel would be an option and can't find any surveys or something to generate a few points.

Thanks.

It's really too bad that there are not any existing threads on this topic:

When do points expire?

How can I know when my points are due to expire?

CC does not have a counter or date on their site to indicate this. You can always call, or, count 18 months from last earn/use activity date. Typically most programs have anywhere from 12-24 months life span, CC is 18 months I believe.

They do send emails warning that points are about to expire. However, if you are like me, these often end up unseen in your spam folder.
I was not happy when I discovered that my points were gone just a week after the cutoff and found the email when I checked my spam folder.
Fortunately, to CC's credit it is not 100% irrevocable. I sent a nicely worded email to CC and they did reinstate my points. I was quite happy they did but I am sure it is on a case by case basis.

I converted expiring CC points to airline FF miles that were also getting ready to expire.

Mine expire in about 6 months so no rush but if I do a $7 purchase of 1000 points will that extend me another 2 years from the time of purchase?

Also, the email might be inaccurate. I received one just recently saying that my points expire at the end of Sep. I had activity in Oct 2014, so this is definitely wrong! CSRs tell me that the 24 months is rounded to the end of the month, so I should have to the end of Oct, not Sep.

Another issue is that they may credit very slowly! I was warned that a stay in late Oct might not credit in time, as it can take 7-10 bus days! Is this for real? Obviously, I've not had a stay for a couple of years, but any delay of that magnitude these days is pathetic.
