Don't book on the app, then!

Or don't book multi-carrier itineraries!

So in usual QR fashion, QR seems to have realised they’ve done something stupid yet again and the mixed cabin fares have now been pulled entirely from QR’s website. On the plus side, it’s arguably taken less time than normal for the adults working for QR to realise the children who run QR’s IT/marketing teams have made a stupid decision, so there’s that. Hopefully the mixed cabin fares will come back as a clear third option requiring a separate check box or something.

Having worked at QR I can assure you this is not the case. You cannot go to the toilet in QR without every SVP and the CEO signing something to say they will allow it.

There's an Emperor's New clothes syndrome operating in QR. It will take a measure of courage from anyone within the marketing team to argue against implementation of a fiat from on high.

Head down, follow the rules and remember that exercising initiative can come back and bite you: that's the operating practice in most areas of QR.

Checking in at Doha with a friend last week, the booking had his title concatenated with his name: something which wouldn't cause an eyebrow twitch most other places. But the QR agent felt unable to accept him for check-in, so called a supervisor who in turn called a super-supervisor to OK the transaction.

The ‘mixed cabin’ fares - and their rather swift disappearance from the booking pages - prompted a mini advisory article over at headforpoints
