Thanks PC.
However, if you really want to pamper your loyal customers, give us something that is actually useful
The welcome packet was a nice gesture, even if it's 2 months later & took a few emails on my part

As for "something useful", we've already got some of that with our status - lounge access, Al Maha Meet & Greet service etc.

https://thepointsguy.com/reviews/qat...s-lounge-doha/

The Qatar Airways First Class Lounge in DOH is certainly a step up from the neighboring business class lounge. The drink and food sections are better, and the lounge feels slightly more relaxing. There’s an enclosed family room as well as comfortable sleeping couches.

This being said, the lounge is disappointing when compared to the first-class lounges offered to Oneworld Emerald elites at other Oneworld hubs. For example, consider the lounges offered to Oneworld Emerald elites by JAL in Narita, Japan, Malaysia Airlines in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong.
Qatar has an excellent first-class lounge as well, but Oneworld Emerald elites — the top Oneworld elite tier — don’t get access to this lounge and are instead relegated to this inferior lounge if they aren’t flying in business or first class.

I know that the QR J or F lounge is totally not luxe by any means but a hot shower; a place to nap (if it's not been hoarded by selfish pax) & something to eat & drink is way better than nothing esp. when the terminal area & food court can get crazy during peak times

I think (& many will dis-agree with me) that I stand with QR PC on not allowing non premium pax with elite status (e.g. Platinum flying economy) into the AM lounge for the sole reason of over-crowding.
However I do not agree that upgraded pax do not have access to the AM & I hope that that rule will be changed (though prolly not in my elite membership lifetime )

I particularly find the Al Maha Meet & Greet service invaluable if you are traveling or connecting in Y as you'll get escorted thru' the shorter transfer security line
(it could be either the premium or the regular economy line)

@kaffir76, It was indeed a nice gesture from PC. However, getting such a card does not make me forget how we were fudged with the 2018 "enhancements". Anyhow I still hope that PC will improve. BTW, during peek hours, the first class lounge is overcrowded to such an extent, that they redirect you to AM.

As I've just made it to Gold, is it needed to book the Al Maha Meet & Greet service in advance or is it automatically added to my booking?
If I select it through MMB I suddenly need to pay 300,- QAR ?

Al Maha Meet and Greet is NOT added automatically - you would need to send an email to [email protected] requesting the service you want and stating your QRPC membership number

Well, I do a lot of travelling on economy tickets and I really appreciate being able to use the first class lounges of the other airlines. They are never too full and often have few people in them (obviously rush hour will be different than slow times). This has encouraged me to fly more often with QR’s OneWorld partners. I think QR has really come up short in this regard.

QR is far from the only airline like this. BA Concorde Room at Heathrow is the same way. AA doesn't permit even its own elites into Admirals Clubs on domestic itineraries.

What does hinder QR (best airline of the world ;-) ) to do it better than others?

let’s not even start into the messes that are called American Airlines and British Airways. Nothing about them seems to suggest that they are attempting to strive above mediocrity.
If CX and MH can let me into their best lounges, why not QR?

In all fairness to BA, their First Class lounge is a significant improvement on their standard business class lounges - with a la carte dining, champagne bar, decent wines / spirits. This is not the case with QR's, which is first class in name only.

(... and I am most certainly not one to leap to BA's defence in the vast majority of circumstances...)

end of May I posted: '4 weeks' email of 2018 ... now ONLY 56 weeks over due
'4 weeks' email of 2019 ... now ONLY 4 weeks over due

update: '4 weeks' email of 2018 (gold)... never received anyway
'4 weeks' email of 2019 (gold) received 6 weeks over due (2 weeks after becoming platinum)
'4 weeks' email of 2019 (platinum) ...received 4 weeks over due
QR is improving that part of their 'service'

Metal cards discontinued

I just received my pack, requalified in September.
The card is now plastic again.

Mine arrived a couple of months ago (albeit 6 months into my current year, not having had one at all for the previous year) and it contained both a metal and a plastic version of the card (in addition to the bag tags). Lucky me.

I may be wrong though but thought the metal was only for platinum? Were some lumps of gold and silver being distributed too?
