Another data point:
6 days before departure received the following offers:
TBS-DOH: 1507 GEL (€530)
DOH-LHE: 688 GEL (€240)
DOH-LHE looks like a good deal for 3.5 hrs flight however it was switched from Qsuite to 777 with outdated 2-2-2
For TBS-DOH it is kinda ridiculous as it is 3 hrs flight operated by narrow-bodied plane like 737-8

QR 835 (N) BKK-DOH 7h - 2 days out, check-in offer on mobile converts to $1441 USD to J (no thanks).
avios upgrade search just keeps spinning now, although in the past there was no availability.
wanted to try the a380 and was hoping to upgrade. perhaps a mistake, i see 31" seat pitch and i am 6'2". the 777 has 32" pitch an hour later (QR 829)
interesting to see all our rates. i'm flying sunday!

Actually, not really. I asked for upgrade at the lounge and they told me the 2 options (Qcredits vs Avios). I guess my original ticket was Eco Classic so upgrading with Qcredit made more sense, hence their recommendation

Yep I know, but I was more curious the actual physical place at the airport you were able to make the J to F qcredit upgrade at BKK. On the same flight relatively soon and though there are still 6 F seats left, havent seen any upgrade availability via the app or website, and am trying to create a gameplan to try to snag that upgrade at BKK should there be no online availability between now and then.

At the far end of the row of QR check in desks, furthest away from the terminal entrance, are several QR desks for ticketing, flight supervisor etc. I would suggest trying there first. You could ask a check in agent but that may lead to some to and fro with the aforementioned desks anyway.
There is also an administrative ticketing office upstairs somewhere that I visited once, but only after being sent there for something specific by the flight supervisor.
