Long stopover in DOH - lounge then exit immigration?

Would appreciate any information or advice on this: Will have an almost 24 hours transit in DOH in an upcoming flight, but will arrive around midnight. Since F passengers can access the sleeping rooms in the lounge, I was thinking of getting some rest first, then heading out immigration in the morning. Is it possible to head back to immigration from the lounge? Any previous experience?

Thanks!

I presume you realise that F passengers can access the sleeping rooms in the lounge on a 'first-come, first-served' basis; a room is not guaranteed.

In my experience multiple entries to the lounge are permitted.

Subject to your nationality a visa can be issued to you at DOH immigration for QAR100. You can then leave the terminal, re-enter at a later time, and re-access the lounge.

Great timing with this question as i have a similar one. We have a 14 hour transit next weekend arriving 6am in J. We want to explore Doha a little bit but 6am is probably a bit early. Can we go to the Al Mourjan and then exit immigration maybe at 8 or 9am? Is that physically possible, or is it like LHR T5 where going airside to landslide is not easy.

bluegreentravel and essexadventurer the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...el-lounge.html thread contains hints and links that you may find helpful.
The usual method is to go to the lounge, freshen up, have breakfast, deposit any hand luggage that you do not want to carry around with you all day in the luggage boxes in the lounge and then take the lift down one floor and go back through security. Then follow the arrivals signs. Remember to look for the QR Premium arrivals lounge in Immigration.
If you have at least seven days to your arrival you can maybe use the new Free 96 hour Tourist visa. See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...hour-visa.html for details.

The link doesn't work - but just to be sure, I can go into the secure area as a transit passenger, use al-Safwa lounge and then exit (and clear immigration) and stay at the Oryx Rotana as a STPC passenger?

nov11 thanks for the tip. The link is fixed now.

You may use the lounge prior to returning through security. to go to the STPC transfer desk. you may find the Wiki on http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...t-do-i-do.html helpful.

Thank you. But I still don't know from the STPC page about accessing al-Safwa and then exiting to landside. Once I am in al-Safwa, I'll be in the sterile airside and DOH has segregated departures and arrivals. What do you mean by returning through security to get to the STPC desk?

nov11 I recommend that you look at the dashboard widget 'About DOH airport'. This explains things in greater detail.

When you reach the transfer desks and if you wish to go to the lounge first then you should go through the security checks airside, find the lounge and do what you want to do. When you are finished go down one floor and enter the exit area of the security area. Here you say to the staff that you need to go to the transfer desk, or leave the airport etc. and they will let you pass through in reverse. you are then t the transfer desks and you can get your STPC. On your return to the airport you need to go directly to Immigration and security to enter airside again.
Do not spend too long in the Lounge on arrival otherwise you may be regarded as a no-show for STPC.

I'll be transiting in DOH, arriving in J at 6 am with my next flight at 2am... Any hotel to recommend for very early check in? In case I am not too tired, anything to recommend in Doha to spend the day?

pvgman there are suggestions as to things to do/see in Doha on the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...assengers.html thread. As for hotels etc look at https://discoverqatar.qatarairways.com/ for hotels, attractions, tours etc.
Remember also the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...hour-visa.html.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread.

I have an upcoming trip and want to ask for advice how risky my plan would be:

I have the following:

BKK - DOH on QR831 to arrive at 11:55
DOH - EDI on QR31 to depart at 01:15

Holding an R class (discounted business) ticket. QR831 leg using Q Credit upgraded to F (A class I think).

So QR have refused me free STPC since there are supposedly shorter connection (even though I couldn't have booked it at the time or since), I am thinking of going to Al Sawfa (F) lounge on arrival and freshen up, eat, etc. I have already applied for free transit visa and would like to head out to town to do a bit of sightseeing and maybe catch dinner.

Question is - Do you think I would get access to Al Sawfa lounge, especially on return back into the airport as I plan to leave my hand luggage there and then depart to land side.

Any experiences?

Thanks

EzzerBKK since your connection in DOH is more than 8 hours and you are not departing DOH in F you will not have access to Al Safwa. However, since you are departing in J, you can do the same thing in Al Mourjan.

Do have a look at the dashboard widget http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...h-airport.html which contains a wealth of information and links.

Stpc - 1 room only for 4 people

QR confirmed my free STPC hotel to be Melia Doha for my family, booked as 4 adult tickets in business class (R) on a 9,5 hour lay-over in Doha on 29th July. When I received the email confirmation, it states that we'll be sharing 1 room with the 4 of us. That doesn't work for us, we need 2 rooms...

I can't find back any information on the QR policy on these matters. Am I entitled to 2 rooms ? Best to call in advance or can this be arranged at the transit desk in Doha airport ?

thanks a lot,

John

john696969 welcome to the QR forum. You will probably find that the QR dashboard is a very useful aid.

You need to contact QR again and sort this out immediately. It will probably be too late when you arrive in DOH.

Please look at the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...l#post28521159 thread for further help.

That is where this should have been posted since it is there that the experts are to be found.
